Playstation 3 In 2008: The Hot 5 Games

50°
329w ago - The year is at a close, which means the Blend Games staff will gather this weekend to drink cheap whiskey and discuss gaming in 2007. At some point a list of our favorite games for the year will come out of the ordeal, but before we get to that it's time to look forward.

After all, it was nice playing Warhawk but it's no time to get complacent with our gaming. There's a brand new stack of titles just itching to be played. Hopefully none of them have any debilitating diseases that will require daily cream application.

2007 gave everyone a great year; everyone except Sony. Jack Tretton of SCEA has said in recent interviews that 2008 will be the year of the Playstation. With a bundle of new titles and many exclusives making their ways to the big George Forman Grill by Sony in 2008, they might be right. I'm not a gambling man, but I'm hoping that this year will bring people to hold their heads up high and say, "Yes! I own a PS3." Here are a few games that are a good start.

5. Final Fantasy XIII

So many people couldn't wrap their minds around the fact that this would be the first Final Fantasy game for the PS3 and not the non-existent remake of part seven. Still, Square Enix keeps making their lion's share of profit from the Final Fantasy stories. The first Final...

Sega delays Condemned 2

50°
329w ago - Sega sent out an updated release schedule today which shows that the release of Condemned 2 will be facing a one month delay. The game was supposed to be released in February for but has now been pushed back to March 2008. No exact date was given.

In case you've forgotten what the game is all about: Players will assume the identity of Ethan Thomas, the former Serial Crimes Unit investigator, who's been called back to duty to track down his missing partner. As Ethan, players will engage in visceral combat using a variety of firearms, blunt instruments and an all-new fighting system complete with defensive and offensive combo chains. To help track the killer and solve the mysteries behind Condemned 2: Bloodshot, players will crack open an all-new set of high-tech forensic tools. Using wits and brute strength, murders can be solved in a number of different ways to keep players guessing throughout each suspenseful investigation.

The delay affects both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.

Project Origin- New Screenshots

200°
329w ago - From the looks of it, the Monolith team has done a great job at improving the lighting in the game and the textures look a lot crispier.

Of course, new weapons and new mini-bosses can be seen, but it's unclear which platform these screenshots have been taken (PC, Xbox 360 or PS3).

More screenshots can be seen here!

The Club PS3 Demo Impressions

100°
329w ago - Yesterday, our European brethren across the pond received a nice gift in the form of a surprise demo on the European PlayStation Network Store. The game? Sega published and Bizarre Creations developed third person shooter known as The Club. I downloaded the 1.7 GB monster of a demo and played around with it for an hour or so. Here are some of my impressions.

The Club's premise is rather simple; you are one of eight characters from across the globe, who has to kill his way through various events and locales. I am sure the premise has some resemblance to a movie or another.

Each character's statistics, strength, stamina and speed, differ from one another offering players enough combinations to suit their play styles. Unfortunately, I cannot tell if these stats make a significant difference or not since the demo only offers one character, Dragov, the tough Russian who apparently lacks in the speed department. If you are seeing glimpses of Street Fighter's Zangief, you are not mistaken; even the character select screen resembles Capcom's 2-D fighter.

Once Dragov was selected, an event selection screen appears with two playable events, "Time Attack" and "Target Score". Project Gotham Racing event similarities are not completely off base here. Time Attack has the player running laps...

Street Fighter IV 1UP Show Special

50°
329w ago - This is it, the first time anyone has seen Street Fighter IV in motion. If you've been following the last few episodes of The 1UP Show, you know that our own Jason Bertrand has been on a mission to find out SF4 details -- finally, his questions are (mostly!) answered.

As part of EGM and 1UP's four weeks of Street Fighter IV, we traveled to Capcom HQ in Japan to interview Producer Yoshinori Ono. We've included some of his choice quotes, and Ryan O'Donnell, Dan "Shoe" Hsu, Shane Bettenhausen, and Matt Leone rehash the trip and provide hands-on gameplay impressions. You're gonna want to get in on this. And stay tuned next week -- we'll have clips from our Ono interview going up each day! Video here:
