Sony Goes Hands-on with Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita

100°
114w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has gone hands-on today with Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS Vita handheld console.

To quote: I recently spent some hands-on time with a near-complete version of Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita, ahead of its October 23rd PSN and retail launch.

And I've gotta say, it's the spitting image of its PS3 bigger brother with big, bold characters and detailed backgrounds running at PS Vita's native screen resolution. But peer underneath those pretty graphics and you'll find a wealth of new extras that make this the definitive version of Capcom's crossover fighter.

The game comes equipped with every DLC fighter from the PS3 version - including PlayStation exclusives Cole McGrath, Kuro, Toro, Mega Man and Pac-Man, of course - as well as alternate costumes for every character in the base roster.

Another nice touch is the ability to customize your character's costume color, then share it with friends via PS Vita's integrated geo-social app "near." It's also worth noting that any DLC costumes or Gems you purchased for the PS3 version will port over to the PS Vita version at no extra cost.

PS Vita's front touchscreen is leveraged in several ways, most notably to create virtual buttons on the screen that you can reposition, resize,...

114w ago - Smart As Assistant Producer Nicolo Accordino has posted up two new videos today showcasing Smart As, which hits PS Vita on October 30th, 2012.

To quote: We're launching PS Vita's all-new social brain training game, Smart As, on October 30th in North America.

We've been hard at work loading Smart As with fun and engaging puzzle games to put your mental might to the test with challenges in four key areas: Logic, Arithmetic, Language and Observation.

As we recently announced, Smart As also features the voice talent of Monty Python's John Cleese; so as you train, you'll receive his encouragement and cheeky commentary. Better still, as you play and improve your scores, you'll get to share your stats with Smart As fans from around the world via the online leaderboards, as well as on Facebook and Twitter.

Here's a sneak peek at the some of our favorite Logic and Arithmetic challenges.

As you can see in this video, the Logic games are designed to test your ability to solve puzzles as quickly as possible. Inspired by the popular scientific opinion that the brain's frontal lobe is used for executive functions like problem solving, organizing and planning, our goal was to design games that tested...

Sony Details Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 Q&A for PlayStation Vita

50°
114w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton has detailed a Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 Q&A for PlayStation Vita fans today!

To quote: The PS Vita version of 2007′s PlayStation 3 dice 'em up Ninja Gaiden Sigma was satisfying evidence of just how comfortable a full, lightning-fast console action game can feel on a handheld.

Duly, Team Ninja's announcement last month that a sequel - Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus - is currently in development came as very welcome news.

PlayStation.Blog sat down for a quick chat with Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi to find out what it has in store with its new Vita game, as well as mysterious new project Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z and recent release Dead or Alive 5.

PlayStation.Blog: It's not been long since the release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus. Why are we seeing a sequel so soon?

Yosuke Hayashi, Team Ninja: We released Sigma Plus earlier this year and it actually did better than we expected, and there was a lot of fan demand for releasing a sequel. We were really happy with the results we got with the original, so that's why we're announcing Sigma 2 Plus.

PSB: What new features are you adding over and above the PlayStation 3 original?

YH: PlayStation Vita is definitely an easy console to play games...
