Resistance 2 like you’ve never seen it before

50°
343w ago - Here's a little bit of delicious eye candy for all you Resistance fans - Resistance 2 screenshots in extreme size. And by extreme size I mean extreme size - ~5,000px times ~3,000px. We also have them available in 10,000px x 5,000px, but...you know...that would be ridiculous.

Brace yourself though, these images reveal that the game doesn't look quite as good as previously thought. The images we've seen so far are obviously smaller versions of the same shots, and when resizing images this huge, the visual flaws tend to get hidden up pretty well.

Update / Ok, a lot of people seem to think we resized the old images and made them 7 times bigger or something. Rest easy, we did not. As said earlier in this post, the original images were 10,000px in size. And they were released in this form by Sony themselves, so we in fact sized them down 50% to approx. 5,000px so they wouldn't be too ridiculously huge. The point was to give the fans of the R franchise a very detailed look at R2. As Sony probably wanted when they released them in this über-size.

PlayStation Store getting a new look on April 15

343w ago - Sony revealed today that they are sprucing up the PlayStation Store's graphical user interface. They plan to have it up when they release Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on April 15.

It is rumored that it will look a bit like the SingStore and navigation for the site will be via icons at the bottom of the store.

While Metal Gear Solid 4, DualShock 3 and God of War news may have dominated our Destination PlayStation coverage, one other interesting leak came out of the retailer conference.

According to sources there, the PlayStation Store is finally getting a graphical user interface overhaul, one planned to arrive alongside Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on April 15. The revamp of the PlayStation Store is said to give it a look more in tune with the SingStore, pictured above, which is already accessible from the PlayStation 3 version of SingStar.

Details were light on the change, but beyond a coat of paint, word was that navigation would change to a series of icons running along the bottom of the interface. We don't have official confirmation on this one yet, so consider it rumor for now.

PlayStation bounces back - PS3!

50°
343w ago - It was hard not to spot the optimism beaming from both Sony execs and developers about the future at the Game Developers Conference last week.

The concerns and hushed whispers at last year's GDC about whether Sony had made fatal errors with the platform's launch have given way to positivity.

Sony's Phil Harrison, head of worldwide studios, looked relaxed when I spoke with him on Thursday, although that may have been more to do with the fact he was not giving a keynote this year and was able to enjoy some of the sessions.

I had spoken to Mark Rein, of Epic, earlier in the week and he told me he had never doubted that PlayStation 3 would be anything other than a success. Of course Epic did release Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 this week so his comments have to be seen in that light.

UT is the kind of franchise PlayStation has been crying out for - a hard core first person shooter with credibility. The Xbox has long been seen as the platform of choice for FPS fans who don't play on PC.

The 360 of course has Halo 3 and many feel that game set the benchmark for online FPS play.

Mark Rein told me: "We've surpassed what Halo 3 offered."

I'll let you - the readers - argue over that one.

Epic are one of the finest exponents of hard core...
