GameStop Dates God of War III PS3 Release for March 16, 2010

237w ago - Today retailer GameStop has [Register or Login to view links] God of War III for PS3 to arrive for US gamers on March 16, 2010.

What makes this date different from other dates in the system is that this title is street dated for the 16th.

What this means is that GameStop will get the game in likely a week or so before the official release and they'll be required to hold them until March 16th to sell them to consumers.

To quote: "GameStop had the title slated for March in their system prior to this, but the 'Street Date' label is new and is likely the confirmed release date for the title.

Usually, GameStop doesn't street date titles until they know an official release date. Thus far, Sony has only stated that the title will release in March. It's been confirmed that God of War III will hit Japan on March 25th.

With a large amount of God of War III content set to be released in a week, it's possible we could hear a potential official release date, too."

Sony Reveals Why PSOne Classics Have No Set PSN Release Date

250°
246w ago - Today the sleuths at Examiner.com (linked above) have uncovered a reply from Sony's PlayStation Store Senior Manager Grace Chen explaining why PSOne Classics have no set PSN release date.

Although the answer isn't surprising, it's definitely good to know why classics such as Final Fantasy VIII are not available in the States to date.

To quote: "Ever since Sony announced PSOne Classics for the PSP and PlayStation 3, new releases have been inconsistent and often appear suddenly without any prior announcements.

Grace Chen, Senior Manager of the PlayStation Store, explain why this is the case on the comment section of the [Register or Login to view links]:

There are a variety of reasons that need to be considered when releasing PSOne Classics... code emulation and testing, licensing rights, music clearances, etc.

Although the process may not always be smooth, Sony has definitely been picking up the pace in 2009 with new PSOne Classics."

"Nintendo today confirms that a new Nintendo DSi XL console is launching in Europe in the first quarter of 2010. The retail price of the Nintendo DSi XL is expected to be higher than that of the Nintendo DSi. Further details will be released soon."

According to a report from Nikkei news service (via [Register or Login to view links] translation by neo2046 of a [Register or Login to view links] post), Nintendo will release a new DSi LL in Japan this year (2009) with a screen that is approximately 4 inches.

For those curious, the screen on the current DSi is 3.25 inches.

Overall it's not a major difference in appearance, but some gamers may simply find the larger screen easier to interact with.

Besides this slight cosmetic change, everything else about the DSi will remain the same. It will have no additional processing power or a higher quality camera.

Best of all the price will remain at the standard price of 18900 yen (around $200). No one is...

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep PSP Release Date Announced

100°
249w ago - The release date for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep for Sony's PSP console has been something of an oddity, at least up until recently.

Square Enix finally gave fans some clue, as they announced it would be coming in "January".

However, it looks like they've finally given in and announced a more definitive date, as Japanese site [Register or Login to view links] claims to have the official release date for the game.

The release date? January 9th, 2010. This is only the Japanese release date though, so there's still no word about the North American or European releases.
