Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is Coming to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita in 2014

42w ago - WayForward Creative Director Matt Bozon confirmed that Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is coming to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita platforms in 2014.

To quote: Next year, [Register or Login to view links] is bringing the highly animated action adventure series [Register or Login to view links] to PS3, PS4, and PS Vita in the form of a brand new game: [Register or Login to view links]!

Since there's a good chance you're hearing about Shantae for the first time, here's a bit of background. Shantae is the name of the half-genie main character who carves through enemies with her destructive ponytail, and belly dances to transform into mythological creatures, animals, swords... and well, pretty much anything. There aren't many games that include the art of sensual dance as a main game mechanic, but Shantae pulls it off nicely.

The gameplay is best compared to Super Metroid or Castlevania Symphony of the Night, but with the visual styling of WayForward's own Ducktales: Remastered. WayForward puts its traditional feature film style animation in the front row along side rock solid gameplay, which has its roots firmly planted in the 8 and 16 bit era of classic gaming. WayForward's engine moves the...

Video: Atomic Ninjas is Out Next Week for PS3 and PlayStation Vita

50°
42w ago - Grip Games CEO Jakub Mikyska announced that Atomic Ninjas is due out next week for both PS3 and PlayStation Vita platforms.

To quote: Hey everybody! This is Jakub, from Grip Games. Our long-awaited, multiplayer action platformer, Atomic Ninjas, is finally cutting its way to PS3 and PS Vita next week on PlayStation Store, Cross Buy and Cross Save, for $9.99.

We're happy to reveal that, contrary to a previous announcement, both the PS3 and PS Vita versions will be released simultaneously on October 8th - as all the evil ninjas sabotaging the launch were apprehended and beheaded

For those of you who not yet familiar with Atomic Ninjas, it's a hilarious, 2.5D platformer with a focus on multiplayer matches, both online and local. But single-player mode is also present, including vicious ninja-bots!

The most important gameplay feature is that you won't be able to directly kill your opponents. Instead, you have to use the arenas themselves to get rid of the competition. Who needs guns when you have lava, acid pools, and laser walls?

Your goal will be to push other ninjas into these environmental hazards and, of course, stay out of them yourself. This creates a completely new twist on gameplay, where you have to outmaneuver and outsmart your opponents.

Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut is Out Today on PS3 and PS Vita

50°
43w ago - Curve Studios PR and Marketing Manager Rob Clarke announced that Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut is out today on PS3 and PS Vita.

To quote: Starting today, you can pick up Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut on both PS3 and PS Vita. The game has Cross-Buy and Cross-Save functionality, and is available through PlayStation Store for $12.99 ($11.69 for PlayStation Plus members).

Here at Curve Studios, we've been working with talented indie developers to bring their games to you guys via PS3 and Vita. For Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut, we've been working very closely with the creator and developer of the original Lone Survivor, Jasper Byrne.

What is Lone Survivor? As the game itself will remind you, this is one to play in the dark with headphones on.

Jasper describes Lone Survivor as a "psychological survival adventure game." It has taken elements from classic adventure games and the best bits of the survival horror genre to create something you haven't seen before.

You can expect scares, scarcity of ammo and exploration of surreal and atmospheric environments to be a big part of the game, but there's also an element of psychological horror...

Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut on PS3 and PS Vita is Dated

50°
44w ago - Curve Studios PR and Marketing Manager Rob Clarke has announced release date details for Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut on both PS3 and PS Vita below today.

To quote: Hey everyone, Rob here, representing the fine men and women of Curve studios in London. I'm very happy to announce that Lone Survivor will be out this coming Tuesday, the 24th of September.

Lone Survivor was originally released for the PC last year by indie developer Jasper Byrne. After eight months of work with Jasper on the PS3 and PS Vita versions, we're very happy to say that we've created the definitive version of this game.

Jasper describes the game as a "Psychological Survival Adventure." It has all the hallmarks of classic survival horror games - high on atmosphere and low on available sources of ammunition.

Players can choose to use stealth or firepower to deal with the monsters in Lone Survivor. Depending on player choices, the game can play out very differently, with many optional scenes and different endings.

For the PlayStation version, we started with simple upgrades, like adding touch support on Vita and improving the lighting system... and things spiralled from there!

We've added over twenty new items, new endings, and new game locations. All of them have been...
