Official CXMB v3.2 for 4.01 M33 PSP Custom Firmware out!

50°
330w ago - Poisonhzkj has returned with an official update to the theme-changing plug-in, adding full support for 4.01 M33 series custom firmware. And that's not all, this version of CXMB is cross-compatible with earlier CFW revisions, including 3.71, 3.80, and 3.90 M33.

The author notes that users who built themes for the unofficial build will either need to re-package their CTF file or hex edit it at the offset 0├–10, replacing DEAD0400 with DEAD0401.

Included in the archive below is both the "full" and "lite" edition of CXMB. If you are simply using CTF format themes created by others, it is recommended to install the latter.

331w ago - Courtesy of Eric Lempel (Director, PlayStation Network Operations) via the PlayStation Blog today:

Hi again! It's great to see the positive reaction to the unveiling of system software update v2.40.

We can't wait for you to finally go hands-on with XMB access in-game and the Trophy system - and it's less than 2 days away.

Not surprisingly, a number of you have posed questions both here and on other forums.

Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions:

Will voice-messaging/private chat be featured in 2.40 as well? If not, can we expect to see this feature added in the future?

We are evaluating the opportunity to offer voice chat, but for this update, we wanted to focus on text messaging as the key priority for communications that our users have asked for.

Can you use the web browser in game?

No, you must exit the game before browsing the internet.

Will In-Game XMB come up during playback of PS2 games, Blu-Ray discs, and DVDs?

The XMB is an exclusive feature for PS3 game titles. Accessing the XMB during gameplay was the top request from our users, which we focused on for this update. However, we continually engage PS3 owners for feedback and will evaluate...

331w ago - Hello again, everyone! Very recently, we demonstrated a major new function enabled in PLAYSTATION 3 firmware v2.40: XMB access in-game. But that's only part of the story, as the next system software update also introduces the Trophy system to the PS3. This video demonstration shows the system in action.

Super Stardust HD, a PLAYSTATION Network-exclusive released in June 2007, will be the first game to leverage Trophies and will offer a variety of trophies. Trophy support in Super Stardust HD will be available for first-time users who purchase the game soon after firmware v2.40 is released, while those who previously purchased and downloaded the title will be prompted to install a free patch.

PS3 users can expect to see additional games bringing Trophies support to their feature sets through 2008 and beyond, providing even greater opportunity to showcase their accomplishments and compete with friends. The following first-party games are also slated to offer Trophy support:

BUZZ! Quiz TV
LittleBigPlanet
MotorStorm Pacific Rift
NBA 09 - PS3
PAIN
PixelJunk...

Official: Windows 7 release date is confirmed!

331w ago - Bill Gates may have only just said his goodbyes, but the Microsoft machine keeps on running with the company announcing information about the release of Windows 7.

The paint may not have even dried on the Windows that is Vista, but it seems that Microsoft is already looking to launch its successor within the next two years.

In a letter to enterprise and business customers on Tuesday, vice president of Microsoft Bill Veghte announced that the approximate launch date for Windows 7 is January, 2010.

Seventh heaven

In the letter, Veghte wrote: "Our plan is to deliver Windows 7 approximately three years after the January 2007 general availability launch date of Windows Vista.

"You've also let us know you don't want to face the kinds of incompatibility challenges with the next version of Windows you might have experienced early with Windows Vista.

"Our goal is to ensure that the migration process from Windows Vista to Windows 7 is straightforward."

Well, if Intel is anything to go by, it won't be the migration from Vista to Windows 7 that will be the problem, it will be the migration from XP to Windows 7 that most computer users will be worried about.
