Capcom Doing Overtime to Make Resident Evil 5 Look Hot

50°
304w ago - In an effort to achieve greater realism, Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi says his team met with clothing manufacturers to ensure authentic in-game apparel.

To quote: "The footwear and gloves the main character wears are all based on real items," said Takeuchi, in an undated interview on Capcom's Japanese site.

"We contacted the makers of those items to find out all the little details that go into making them, that way players don't have a sense of the game being completely divorced from reality."

As Takeuchi puts it, players will be able to see individual clothing fibers so that characters will breath in a more life-like fashion, presumably so the game will freak you out even more when a Zombie dog jumps through a window.

"Resident Evil 5 will occupy a unique place in the gaming world," added the veteran producer. "We are going to shock everybody."

Here's hoping it does when the game arrives on March 13, 2009 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Capcom: Don't worry about the Shareholder Report Comments

100°
307w ago - This past Thursday, Capcom released a shareholder report. One of the more troubling entities which was identified revolved around mutliplatform and exclusive titles.

"All major titles launched during the next fiscal year or thereafter will be developed as multi-platform games," read the report. However, Capcom is now attempting to partially mitigate the damage that the financial report has caused.

"Relax. I think the materials pretty much speak for themselves and we're continuing to support all consoles with appropriate content," said Capcom's Christian Svnesson.

"It just means things that in the past would have been timed exclusives to a single platform will no longer be exclusive to a single platform. It's just better business decisions at play. I don't think fans have anything to worry about. That said, I know nothing I say will keep people from freaking out, screaming 'the sky is falling, OMG!' So feel free to carry on assuming the worst. I suspect you'll be pleasantly surprised if you do so."
