Max Payne 3 and New PS3 Exclusive Coming From Rockstar?

50°
308w ago - Perhaps you've noticed that our October issue of EGM is on its way out the doors of 1UP Manor and into your homes, and perhaps that bit of knowledge has left you wondering what's waiting for you in everyone's favorite section of the magazine: Quartermann!

Well, since we know how much you love getting your monthly taste of gaming gossip, we're giving a sneak peek at some of the hottest rumors in this month's Qmann column.

We've been hearing for months that Max Payne 3 is in the works, but this month we got something a bit juicier to add to this rumor: Original Max Payne developers Remedy Entertainment are currently too busy working on Alan Wake to even consider developing the new Payne sequel. Instead, the next-gen noir shooter will be handled by the same internal Rockstar team that created The Warriors.

And perhaps even more exciting, we've got word that Rockstar is still hard at work on an unannounced PlayStation 3 exclusive. Who's making it? Why, just the guys behind a little-known Rockstar release from earlier in the year....

But that's not all, loose-lip addicts. Remember earlier this summer when LucasArts finally announced Star Wars: The Clone Wars -- Lightsaber Duels, the lightsaber-wielding Wii game that everyone had...

GC 2008: PS3 Home Update - It is coming this year, and FREE!

50°
309w ago - Martijn Van der Meulen, a Producer on Home, has said that "it is a 100 percent guarantee that Home will be released by the end of this calendar year.

There had been concern that Sony may one day charge for PlayStation Home, but Meulen says that "there are no plans to charge for Home, even in the far future."

To quote in full: Home. We've been waiting for it for quite some time now and some gamers were beginning to think it would never arrive at all. But here at the German Games Convention, Home did in fact make an appearance at the top of a stylish, multi-tiered patio structure built into Sony's booth. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Martijn Van der Meulen, a Producer on Home, to talk about what's going on with the free software that promises to revolutionize the way PS3 owners interact with one another online.

First and foremost, Van der Meulen told me (without hesitation) that it is a 100 percent guarantee that Home will be released by the end of this calendar year. He has absolutely no doubt that this will be the case, so it looks like the long wait to come Home is finally reaching its conclusion. Van der Meulen also assured me, quite adamantly, that Home will always be a free service -- only premium content will need to be purchased. I know some gamers were concerned that...

Postcards from Leipzig: Killzone 2 Public BETA is coming soon

50°
309w ago - Eric Boltjes, the Senior Online Gameplay Designer for Killzone 2, has said that the Public BETA for the game is coming soon. Boltjes also said that they are listening to feedback from people who are testing out the online version of the game at Leipzig.

"We are still at a point in the project where we can change and tweak specific aspects of the game so getting this kind of feedback from our audience (even though they might be journalists ) is a tremendous help to getting this project done and out the door." said Boltjes.

Via PS Blog - Eric Boltjes, the senior online gameplay designer for Killzone 2:

Today was the first time ever that we showed the online version of the game, hands-on, to anyone outside of the SCEE family and I have to admit, it was quite nerve-wracking. We've worked on this online portion for over two years and putting your baby out there is not an easy thing. I am very happy to say though that today could not have gone better and we got some really good responses from all of the journalists we showed the game to.

There is something almost magic about seeing people playing the online game for the first time and more importantly, seeing them really get into it! Some of the journalists were so into the game that they almost forgot to ask questions for...
