Lumines Supernova Coming to PSN Soon with LittleBigPlanet Skin!

50°
303w ago - Q Entertainment's Executive Producer Tetsuya Mizuguchi announced that LUMINES Supernova is coming very soon to PSN:

Hello from Tokyo! This is Tetsuya Mizuguchi from Q Entertainment.

Back in 2005, the original concept for the PSP was to be the Walkman of the 21st century. This new handheld machine was packed full of promises, so we worked hard to have a game ready for the hardware launch. That game was called "Lumines".

The inspiration for Lumines came to me one night as I was sitting on a sandy beach looking up at the starry skies. Beautiful graphics, powerful sound, and the ability to affect both while playing, all packed into such a tiny portable package - Lumines was my answer to the 21st century walkman!

So here we are now in 2008. High-definition graphics have become the new standard and online technology has advanced, bringing the world even closer together. Into this environment comes the PlayStation 3, with built-in hard drive and Blu-ray disc support, as well as full online capabilities. I think the PS3 is really helping to drive this technology trend. I am very pleased that the latest version of Lumines - LUMINES Supernova - will be available on this powerful platform.

Well, it's not 2006 anymore,...

Qore Episode 07 is Coming to PSN this Thrusday, and it's FREE!

303w ago - PlayStation Network Executive Producer Kevin Furuichi made the following announcement via PS Blog today:

We have good news for you this month. As our way of saying "Happy Holidays," the PlayStation Network is offering the Single Episode version of Qore Episode 07 (December '08) for FREE* in the PlayStation Store. So, this month is your chance to check out an entire episode of Qore starting this Thursday, December 4th.

Episode 07 begins with an inside look at EA's "Skate 2," the sequel to the game that redefined what it means to ride a virtual board. Then, Audrey Cleo rolls over to Skatefest '08 in San Diego for a spin around the boarding scene.

Next, Veronica Belmont makes her way to Capcom to check out two of their latest projects - "Bionic Commando," the re-imagining of the classic 8-bit franchise, and "Flock," a really cool PlayStation Network game that definitely does not follow the herd.

We also introduce you to the "Steam Punk" sub-culture as we take a look at Codemasters' "Damnation" - a post-modern third person-shooter served with a Jules Verne twist.

Of course, it wouldn't be Qore if we didn't have a few downloadable and playable goodies for you in the form of an exclusive...

Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon Coming to Europe After All

50°
303w ago - Despite recent reports of Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon being cancelled for PlayStation 3, a THQ UK representative told Eurogamer (linked above) that it will indeed still be arriving to Europe as scheduled on February 13th of 2009.

To quote: THQ has clarified the situation with Destroy All Humans! Path of Furon - saying the PS3 version will be released in Europe after all.

Yesterday it was reported that the game will only be available for Xbox 360 in the US. Now a THQ UK representative has stated both versions are still on track for a European release.

"Destroy all Humans: Path of the Furon will be released on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 formats on February 13th 2009 across Europe," he stated.

"Due to the game being shipped earlier in North America on 2nd December a decision was made to proceed exclusively with the Xbox 360 format in that market."

Sony Talks PS3 Home, Coming By Year-End But Still In BETA

350°
303w ago - It feels as though I've been writing about PlayStation Home for years. I haven't, it's only been months in reality, but with its release being delayed constantly, known and unknown development issues, and questions still remaining, it feels like the service has been a long time coming. Which makes any official word from Sony very interesting indeed.

Jack Buser, the director of PlayStation Home, recently sat down with IGN to discuss Home. He talks about why we should care about it, what experience it will give us, and what is it with all these delays.

He explains that Home is going to be a place to meet friends online, to find gamers of the same skill level and into the same games as you. It's going to replace the arcade as the place to make new friends and share your hobby with them. All in all, Sony is excited about Home, and so, apparently should you be.

Great, so where is it and when can we, the great unwashed who haven't been invited to try the closed beta be able to experience the joys of Home? Buser claims the service is now entering the final stages of closed beta, with the open beta very close to launch. And he goes one further by stating:

"Like we've said, we're excited about moving PlayStation Home into its Open Beta stage this year. Once we make the...

Resident Evil 5 Demo Confirmed, Coming to PlayStation Network

50°
304w ago - Earlier this week, Famitsu Weekly confirmed that a demo of Capcom's highly anticipated Resident Evil 5 would be coming to the Japanese XBox Live Marketplace on December 5.

Confusion arose as to whether the demo would be limited to Japan and only the XBox Live Marketplace.

Capcom, however, has confirmed that the demo will be appearing on both the PSN and XBox Live Marketplace, and in all major regions as well.

The demo, however, will not be launching simultaneously worldwide, and as of right now, there is no word on the western release date.
