PlayStation Portable Firmware Update v5.01 Coming Soon

50°
304w ago - According to the Director of PlayStation Network Operations Eric Lempel, PlayStation Portable Firmware Update 5.01 is coming soon.

To quote: PSP firmware update 5.00 added direct access to the PlayStation Store, and we've since found an issue related to larger-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duos, which we'll be addressing with a new update (5.01).

When downloading content from the Store to a PSP with an 8 GB or 16 GB Memory Stick Duo media inserted, you may see a message indicating that the media does not have enough free space, even when sufficient space exists.

Update 5.01 resolves this issue and will be coming soon.

He said that Sony approached Capcom with the idea. "We're supporting PlayStation Network like no other company," Diamonon claimed.

305w ago - Just over a week ago, we reported on the BioShock Demo's Texture issues.

Today, 2K Elizabeth (2K Community Manager) has reported that the 2K Development Team is working on a patch for BioShock on the PS3 which should fix all of the visual problems.

For now, she confirmed that two fixes are included relating to the Big Daddy Bouncer and Elite Bouncer Textures Appeared Pixelated and White Bars.

To quote: Hey guys,

I have good news from the dev team about a patch for BioShock PS3! They have been working on a patch to address the concerns some of you on the forum have talked about. As work is in progress I do not have a definite date for when this patch will be released as it needs to be tested and clear certification with Sony before it is scheduled and released. I do know this will not be until after the game's launch, and I will update you with details on that date as I receive them.

I'll be releasing the entire patch list when it's all finalized, but for now I'm sure you'll be happy to see that these two fixes are included.

306w ago - The President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA), Jack Tretton, has told the Financial Times that he has no qualms about Sony meeting their corporate goals and selling every PS3 they manufacture.

Tretton was also asked whether the consoles stands now after a shaky first years. "Gamers are coming back to us, we are selling a higher percentage of games such as Madden NFL and Grand Theft Auto, because people are choosing the PS3 [over the Xbox].

Sales are up over 100 per cent and we are tracking well ahead of what we expected." Tretton replied.

To quote: Where do you stand right now in the console wars after a somewhat shaky first year?

Gamers are coming back to us, we are selling a higher percentage of games such as Madden NFL and Grand Theft Auto, because people are choosing the PS3 [over the Xbox].

Sales are up over 100 per cent and we are tracking well ahead of what we expected. We are having success in multiple markets and, coming up to the second anniversary of the PS3, we are right where we wanted to be.
