TKC Demo v0.1 for PS3 JailBreak by Waninkoko Arrives

300°
198w ago - Over the weekend Treyarch developer JD_2020 has shared details on their official site (linked above) of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops PS3 v1.04 patch.

To quote: Hey PS3 gamers,

We are listening to you and we’ve been busy working on updates based on feedback from the community. We have already deployed a number of updates, and there will be many more to come. Stay tuned right here for all the latest info.

IN PROGRESS

Patch 1.04 is nearing the end of Phase 2 testing. Going into Phase 3 submissions on 12/6.

Issues Addressed:

  • Resolved several issues with parties getting disbanded unexpectedly.
  • Additional measures to prevent the “Transmission error” and other disconnects. This was most likely to occur with large parties where party members had mixed NAT types.
  • Updated handling for UPnP-enabled routers to improve matchmaking conditions where users had strict or moderate NAT types. Also added in-game communications so that all players are aware of their NAT type in the Player Match party lobby.
  • Addressed an issue with VOIP icons not appearing when USB headsets were plugged in prior to game launch.
  • Prevention of exploit that allowed players to keep custom classes and killstreaks...

Guide: How to Reconstruct PS3 SELF Files After Decrypting

300°
198w ago - Today netkas (linked above) has shared a brief guide on how to reconstruct PS3 SELF files after decrypting them for PlayStation 3 developers.

To quote: Here is a little, noob-unfriendly howto about recreating ps3 apps after you have decrypted it

as example, I will talk about vsh.self, which everyone on jb ps3 can find in /dev_flash/

1) decrypt it with graf_chokolo's payload, you will get two files after all, lets call them vsh.0 and vsh.1

2) compress these files with zlib, I use zpipe for it ([Register or Login to view links])

cat vsh.0 | ./zpipe > vsh.0z
cat vsh.1 | ./zpipe > vsh.1z

size of files:

6951464 2010-12-05 02:06 vsh.0
2930941 2010-12-05 04:04 vsh.0z
338832 2010-12-05 02:06 vsh.1
133356 2010-12-05 04:04 vsh.1z

3) going into vsh.self
look at 64-bit big endian value at 0x290 - 0x0000000000000900 (2304 decimal), its start of first segment (vsh0) in vsh.self, next 64bit BE value at 0x298 is size of this section - 0x00000000002cb8fd (2930941 decimal) , perfectly matched to size of out vsh.0z
