Video: PS Vita's Soul Sacrifice: Leviathan and Ghost Mode Revealed

50°
103w ago - Comcept Founder Keiji Inafune has posted up a video today showcasing both Leviathan and Ghost Mode in PS Vita's Soul Sacrifice below.

To quote: Today, I'm pleased to reveal a new monster, "Leviathan," and to share its backstory.

Meet Leviathan

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, there were two twin princes. The older twin excelled at everything, and the younger one failed at just as much. The two were so different that it was a wonder that the same blood flowed through their veins. It was like pairing up a giant and a dwarf.

The younger brother grew up with a severe inferiority complex and developed an extremely dark personality. He started to enjoy collecting ferocious animals, one in particular being a crocodile from another kingdom. He put the crocodile in a cage, where he tormented it. It was the only time he could ever feel strong.

Years went by, and it was finally time for the heir to take the throne. Of course, the chosen heir was none other than the eldest of the twin brothers. Jealous, the younger prince stormed off to his room. He sat there, staring at his crocodile.

"If only I could get the crocodile to kill my brother..." he thought. Just then a strange voice resonated in the room and the prince could feel his body...

DJMax Technika Tune: Turning PS Vita Into a Rhythm Game Machine

103w ago - Pentavision Global Product Manager Eddie Lehecka has shared a video today spotlighting DJMax Technika Tune turning PS Vita into a rhythm game machine.

Below are the details, to quote: Making the decision to develop an entry of the DJMAX TECHNIKA franchise for PlayStation Vita was something of a no-brainer.

The arcade game is known for its stylish cabinet, high-definition background videos, and innovative touch-screen game play. PS Vita is known for its stylish design, high-definition graphics, and innovative dual touch control scheme. Everything seems to line up, until you realize that the gameplay experience on a 22" touch screen has to be re-created for a handheld platform.

If you're not familiar with the DJMAX TECHNIKA arcade franchise, at its core it plays like most other arcade music games. It has a dedicated control interface used to activate "notes" in as accurate timing with the music as possible.

In TECHNIKA's case the game uses two sets of four horizontal lanes with a timing line that scrolls clockwise on the screen. Even on the 22" arcade monitor, the play field takes up nearly all of the real estate out of necessity.

Our solution was to cut two of the rows to make the interface...

Sony on What's New in Rocketbirds: Hard Boiled Chicken for PS Vita

50°
104w ago - Today Sony Producer and Studio Head Sian Yue Tan has shared what is new in Rocketbirds: Hard Boiled Chicken for PS Vita, which is taking flight in 2013.

Below are the details, to quote: It's my pleasure to tell you that Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is coming to the PS Vita in the first quarter of 2013!

[Register or Login to view links], our cinematic platform adventure game, has come a long way from its three IGF finalist nominations back in 2010. Since then, we listened to people's feedback and vastly improved the game for its PS3 release in October 2011.

That version had more technical improvements than we could shake a stick at; we made it fast and included stereoscopic 3D, added a new Jet Pack mode, a two-player couch co-op campaign and polished the heck out of it.

We received more great feedback, so when it came down to the PS Vita version, we jumped at the opportunity to iterate on the game once more. We added things like new chapters, puzzles and humor; a unique new Hardboiled difficulty setting; improvements to the controls to utilize the PS Vita's unique features; and improved connectivity for the cooperative campaign.

From the beginning, I've really wanted to include...
