Sony PSP Digital Comics Store Update for February 18, 2010

236w ago - Designer Pete Stott of SCEE's Digital Comics Team has posted up this week's PSP Digital Comics Store update today on the PlayStation Blog, as follows:

This week's gargantuan store update sees a mind-blowing 61 comics for each & every one of you to get your sticky hands on.

Marvel afficionados can sleep easy (or never at all) with the Digital Comics release of Venom vs Carnage (#1-#4) and the phenomenal X-23: Target X series from 2007 (#1-#6). Plus, there's more Daredevil, Hulk, Wolverine and X-Men to enjoy.

Issue 2 of Cages from Insomnia should satisfy those of you who yearn for bad language, fear and violence. If you haven't picked up the free copy of issue #1 yet, what are you waiting for?

Fans of Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep can also rejoice with brand new episodes, and Tank Girl - "The most rock'n'roll comic book character ever" according to the NME - returns with her marsupial hubby Booga as they find themselves the victims of the worst run of bad luck ever. Tank Girl: Visions of Booga #1-#4 are now available for the PSP.

PlayStation NBA All-Star Weekend, Custom PSPGos & PS3 Games

236w ago - Today Public Relations Manager Alex Armour has blogged about the PlayStation NBA All-Star weekend, which features custom PSPGos, PS3 games and more!

To quote: The convergence of athletes and videogames was apparent this past weekend as PlayStation once again powered up the official NBA Players' Lounge at [Register or Login to view links] in Dallas.

This was yet again a great opportunity to give players and families a chance to relax, get some food and drink, and play some of the latest PlayStation games including MLB 10: The Show, Gran Turismo 5, ModNation Racers and God of War III.

Of course we didn't just leave it at that. We also brought back the custom laser etching machine to carve some customized designs into PSPgos and wooden cases to provide for the all-star players. The PSPs were painted with unique all-star colors in a variety of styles, and etched with a design of the player's choice.

The laser machine went into overtime though, as the team laser etched the customized PSP boxes, a variety of notebooks, and even random guest items like phones and laptops. Additionally, [Register or Login to view links] was kind enough to donate some equipment to also include for the players.

Sony Combats PSP Piracy with Online Registration Requirements

236w ago - Sony is testing out a new anti-piracy system with the recently released title SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 for the PSP console.

Those seeking to go online with the game have to be validated via registration before doing so, therefore, pirated copies of the game will not be able to go online without the special voucher code.

To quote: "Any hopes today marks the beginning of the end of the rampant piracy seen on its PSP platform. SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3, released today, is Sony's first test at discouraging pirates from downloading PSP software.

Those who purchase SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 are now required to register the title through PlayStation Network before given access to online gameplay. UMD copies of the game will come with a voucher code that must be redeemed online, while digital copies will automatically register in the background. Those who buy a used copy of the UMD can purchase a PSN entitlement voucher for $20 to play online.

We spoke recently with John Koller, director of hardware marketing at SCEA, about this new initiative to combat piracy on PSP and when we may see it appear on other titles and platforms.

236w ago - SCEA Senior Producer Mark Rogers has announced that SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 launches today for PSP and has shared a video below, as follows:

We're happy to announce that SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 is available today for purchase on the PlayStation Network and UMD.

SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 features a comprehensive single-player campaign with nine campaign missions and a number of new gameplay features. The single-player campaign is supported by a brand new cooperative mode.

For the first time in series history, SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 lets you call your friends to duty with a new 4-player co-op mode available in both ad-hoc and infrastructure. With all campaign missions accessible, players can choose which missions to attempt and tackle with tactical teamwork and firepower.

NIS America PSP Game Title Changes from Badman to Lord

236w ago - Today European Product and Development Manager Allison Walter at NIS America has announced that PSP title "The Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman" will immediately be referred to as "What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!?" due to an unintentional IP conflict.

To quote: I have a few bits of important news to announce!

The first is, Badman has decided to change his bad image, or at least his name. Let it be known: The Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman series will immediately be referred to as [Register or Login to view links] The original title had a conflict of interest with an existing IP and it was not [Register or Login to view links] intention to create any conflict.

This new title is intended to better represent the game's whacky retro dungeon world and connect the player's awareness with the overall theme of the game. Phil, give us a drumroll to introduce the new game cover...

Due to the name change the game, Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman!: What did I do to deserve this? will be temporarily unavailable from the PlayStation Store. The game will return as soon as the new name process has been completed.

The second bit of news is that What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2 will be released...
