PS2 HDD Support & Discless ELF Launching from PS3 XMB WIP

1000°
189w ago - Here is my WIP project on PS2 HDD support and discless ELF launching from the PS3 XMB. First off I'd like to thank w1zard0f07 for being able to at least try helping me out with this one.

Over the last month or so I have been working on a little trick for the Phat Model PS3s. In summary FFXI is PS2 title that requires PS2 HDD support which is added via [Register or Login to view links] ([NPIA00001] PS2 System Files).

From there a "PS2 partition is made", which translates to an IMAGE.DAT file being made to exactly 12GB (according to GameOS/FTP this file is 0kb large)

The contents of this HDD is listed in the attached "Blank PS2 HDD.txt" (The partition list is corrupted according to w1zard0f07, quote "APA partition table on your dump file is broken")

The XMB icon is not launchable by this point, and requires the PlayOnline Viewer to be installed. This undergoes a certificate process, and then continues to install PlayOnline viewer to the "PS2 HDD." It is after this point the XMB icon is launchable, and goes straight into the PS2 mode reading from PP.SCUS-97269.1000.POLVIEWER and launching...

n4ru Flash Loader for PS3 - Successor to JaicraB's Loader Arrives

700°
189w ago - Here's a small app called n4ru Flash Loader, a successor to JaicraB's Loader, I made in a few minutes. It's completely untested as I have no access to a PS3 until Monday and thus may not work at all, so feedback would be appreciated.

Download: n4ru Flash Loader SRC / n4ru Flash Loader PKG File

It uses the SynaPS3 library, even though it only uses 1 function from the library. No harm in self-advertisement for my (baby-stage) library?

Jaicrab's Loader was made when we still had to use peek/poke to remount directories. We now have syscall8 (hermes) and syscall35 (PL3) for remounting directories. This makes things much easier.

This loader is universal and works with both Hermes and PL3. Create a folder called "cfw" on the root of your device and place the "dev_flash" folder inside it. Then create another folder called "cfw" INSIDE your "dev_flash" folder.

It supports CFW on your harddrive, so once...

300°
190w ago - Over the weekend Treyarch developer JD_2020 has shared details on their official site (linked above) of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops PS3 v1.04 patch.

To quote: Hey PS3 gamers,

We are listening to you and we’ve been busy working on updates based on feedback from the community. We have already deployed a number of updates, and there will be many more to come. Stay tuned right here for all the latest info.

IN PROGRESS

Patch 1.04 is nearing the end of Phase 2 testing. Going into Phase 3 submissions on 12/6.

Issues Addressed:

  • Resolved several issues with parties getting disbanded unexpectedly.
  • Additional measures to prevent the “Transmission error” and other disconnects. This was most likely to occur with large parties where party members had mixed NAT types.
  • Updated handling for UPnP-enabled routers to improve matchmaking conditions where users had strict or moderate NAT types. Also added in-game communications so that all players are aware of their NAT type in the Player Match party lobby.
  • Addressed an issue with VOIP icons not appearing when USB headsets were plugged in prior to game launch.
  • Prevention of exploit that allowed players to keep custom classes and killstreaks...
