292w ago - For fans of the original PS1, Sony really hasn't been adding classics to the PlayStation Store at a fast enough pace. There have been a few, of course, but there are many more PS1 greats that should eventually find their way to the Store (for play on both the PS3 and PSP).
Well, according to a PS3Fanboy reader, it seems the ESRB has rated several fantastic PS1 titles that have yet to arrive on the Store. Well, we have to assume that if the ESRB is rating these games again, they're being prepped for another release... It's only common sense. Here's the list:
Unfortunately, we have no idea when these classics might hit the Store, but we're assuming SCEA will make the announcements some time soon. With the likes of the original Rayman, Castlevania: Chronicles and the fantastic Wipeout XL (one of the best titles ever, in our estimation), this would be great news indeed.
PlayStation Network head Eric Lempel has revealed that a new PSP firmware is coming and will be "available shortly."
Firmware 3.95 will introduce two new features, the first of which is the ability to customize control settings in PSP PSOne settings. The second is a more PlayStation 3 centric feature, allowing PSP owners to turn off their PS3 console or leave it on when exiting from a Remote Play session. To quote:
* While playing PSone games on your PSP, you can now customize how the buttons are assigned by going to [Controller Settings] > [Assign Buttons] and select [Custom].
* You can now quit Remote Play and choose to turn off your PS3 or leave it on after quitting. This is useful if you are performing a download and want to quit Remote Play, but still want your download to continue on the PS3. Select [Quit and Turn Off the PS3 System] or [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3 System] from [Quit Remote Play] when you press...
298w ago - According to Reuters, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is targeting April 8 to release its first two BD-Live titles.
They include "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" and the Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi thriller "The 6th Day". The PS3 firmware update v.2.20, that will enable the use of BD-Live features, will be available in "late March."
To quote: Now, the big push is for Profile 2.0 players, which are slated to start coming to market in the next few months. Accordingly, studios are scrambling to produce final spec BD-Live software as well, with Lionsgate leading the charge in January with "War" and "Saw IV" -- a bold move, considering there weren't yet any players on the market that could tap into the discs' Web-enhanced content.
Sony's two BD-Live titles each include exclusive downloadable theatrical and home video previews along with a FAQ about BD-Live functionality. "Walk Hard" includes three featurettes that star Bill Hader as Derek Stone, a historian and expert "Coxologist." These featurettes are available only via the BD-Live download.
BD-Live titles also have the potential to enable a wide range of Web-based features, including ringtone and wallpaper downloads, peer-to-peer interactions, live virtual events and gaming.
