Below is a tutorial on how to theme your Android phone with a PS3 XMB and icons alongside a video of a Droid 2 Global customized with an XMB and PlayStation icons, and to quote:

"First, you'll need to download the Wave Lite Live Wallpaper app from the Android Market by Crazy Zen Lab. The live wallpaper isn't exactly the XMB, but it's the very closest thing to it. Other than the width of the "waves" it's nearly perfect.

The developer even claims in the description that the wave was inspired by the PS3 and PSP. The live wallpaper has settings that you can tweak to your liking. We've...

Gliitch's Awesome XMB for PS3 JailBreak is Now Available

400°
191w ago - Recently gliitch has released what he calls Gliitch's Awesome XMB for PS3 JailBreak users, which is based on PlayStation 3 dev_flash and RCO file modifications.

Download: Gliitch's Awesome XMB for PS3

To quote: I have been working away at this for a few days, and its a follow up to my Unstable version of my XMB. Well good news people, it is now fully usable.

As this is still my first proper release, its not by any means complete. No debug options enabled yet, but i think i have done pretty well. Thank you GregoryRasputin for helping me out.

Little hint, check out "About Game" from any Homebrew app.

So, the time came for me to delve deep into dev_flash once again, to see what more i could find...

Well i found out how to change the title names of each application from User to Playstation Network. In doing so i learned that as cool as these mods are, it makes your PS3 EXTREAMLY UNSTABLE!

This is more of a learning curve for me, and it can be for the rest of you guys too

PS2 HDD Support & Discless ELF Launching from PS3 XMB WIP

1000°
193w ago - Here is my WIP project on PS2 HDD support and discless ELF launching from the PS3 XMB. First off I'd like to thank w1zard0f07 for being able to at least try helping me out with this one.

Over the last month or so I have been working on a little trick for the Phat Model PS3s. In summary FFXI is PS2 title that requires PS2 HDD support which is added via [Register or Login to view links] ([NPIA00001] PS2 System Files).

From there a "PS2 partition is made", which translates to an IMAGE.DAT file being made to exactly 12GB (according to GameOS/FTP this file is 0kb large)

The contents of this HDD is listed in the attached "Blank PS2 HDD.txt" (The partition list is corrupted according to w1zard0f07, quote "APA partition table on your dump file is broken")

The XMB icon is not launchable by this point, and requires the PlayOnline Viewer to be installed. This undergoes a certificate process, and then continues to install PlayOnline viewer to the "PS2 HDD." It is after this point the XMB icon is launchable, and goes straight into the PS2 mode reading from PP.SCUS-97269.1000.POLVIEWER and launching...

Guide: How to Place PS3 Apps into Different XMB Categories

650°
196w ago - Today NZHawk has shared on his blog (linked above) what he calls a little find, specifically how to place PS3 apps into different PlayStation 3 XMB categories.

To quote: "Well I was talking to DarkHacker about param.sfo files and that. He asked me to try changing the CATAGORY string to 'HM' and see what it did.

It made the package install under the PlayStation Network catagory on the XMB. DarkHacker and I then worked out the rest of the catagories that its possible to install and run hombrew applications to the XMB, and found them all except Users, Settings and Friends (which all seem to be filled with the XML files in the VSH flash folder).

String / Category
HM / Playstation Network
CB / Network
HG / Game
AV / Video
AM / Music
AP / Photo
AT / TV

I thought this was quite interesting, and would be great if we could add a Hombrew catagory to the xmb and make all hombrew apps install under it to make some hombrew standard, much like the wii has. (Also has anyone though about making a database of hombrew Title IDs to keep track?)

Oh, and its possible to change this location after install via application settings."

Thanks to PSGroove for the news tip and to Jes03 for posting this a...

PS3 Acid CFW - XMB Custom Firmware XML Hack Pack Released

1300°
201w ago - Update: Test 2 is now available, with complete details on the changes outlined HERE.

Here is what I call PS3 Acid CFW, an XMB custom firmware XML hack pack for the PlayStation 3 console.

I spend the last days in playing around with PS3 FW files and have modified some of them and hopefully unlocked nearly ALL Debug options.

I mainly have edited the RCO's and their XML's. It's phenomenal what can be done with a simple XML file.

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

The Wii works on the same way, but anyway we can change the whole XMB via the XML's. It was a childs play to add some paths from one XML to another and add additional download paths for contents that before was only download able into one path. (eg PS3HDD or PS3 only games).

In my country nearly all chips that can be used to make a PSGroove are sold out. I still have some ATmega8 chips at home but I need to modify the source to get the thing running.

The LUFA software USB LIB doesn't support ATmega8 so...
