Guide: How to Compile PSFreedom's Payloads with Ubuntu 10.10

400°
194w ago - Over the weekend Klutsh [Register or Login to view links] a simple guide on how to compile PSFreedom's payloads with Ubuntu 10.10.

He states this is for the payloads only and is independent of devices, and his next guide will cover compiling the kernel and the kernel module which are device dependant.

Below is the guide, to quote:

Here's a real quick guide on getting Ubuntu 10.10 ready to compile the PSFreedom payloads.

Prerequisites:

•A Working install of [Register or Login to view links]

The Guide:

First thing we need to do is install some applications through apt, so open a terminal and do the following:

sudo apt-get install git-core gnupg flex bison gperf libsdl1.2-dev libesd0-dev libwxgtk2.6-dev build-essential zip curl libncurses5-dev zlib1g-dev gcc-4.3 cpp-4.3 g++-4.3 texinfo autoconf

Now we need to clone PSFreedom from github to our local PC, pull it's submodules and get the toolchain installed

cd ~/
git clone git://github.com/kakaroto/PSFreedom.git
cd PSFreedom
git submodule update --init
cd pl3
git submodule update --init
cd ps3toolchain

Pongus: First Legal PS3 Homebrew Game is Now Available

400°
194w ago - Today PSGroove reports that the first legal (not built with the leaked PS3 SDK) PS3 homebrew game dubbed Pongus for PlayStation 3 JailBreak users is now available courtesy of CodeZombie.

Download: Pongus PS3 Homebrew Game with Source Code

To quote: This is the first PS3 homebrew game to use no copyrighted code. The game was coded from the ground up, entirely with the PSL1GHT SDK. Here is what CodeZombie had to say about his release:

Pongus is a simple pong clone, demonstrating the basic features of the PSL1GHT SDK.

Right now, it's in a playable state, with enemy AI, collision detection, Speed advancement and simple controls.

I am aware that there is already a much better pong clone available for the PS3, but that package contains leaked Sony code, and is illegal to distribute.

This package is the opposite, written completely with the Open PSL1GHT SDK. No Sony code was used to write this game, and thus, is able to be freely distributed, source and all."

James Bond 007 Blood Stone USA Requires 3.50 PS3 Firmware

1000°
194w ago - Similar to how Medal of Honor required PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.42 until a workaround followed by a fix surfaced, today James Bond 007 Blood Stone USA was released by DEFECT for PS3 JailBreak users, and the NFO File states it requires PS3 Firmware 3.50.

While the European version only requires Firmware 3.41, I have gotten the USA scene release version of James Bond 007 Blood Stone working fine here.

Although it initially requires PS3 Firmware 3.50, I modified the SFO File to version 3.41000 and removed the game's update folder.

Then I simply used the EBOOT.bin file from the MRN European version and it's now running on my JailBroken PS3 console. The game is currently...

ATMega16A Payload Injector Project for PS3 JailBreak Devices

550°
194w ago - A few weeks back Dominator7 made a guide on how to port / convert plain payload files for USB JailBreak dongles, and today garyopa at PSX-Scene has posted news of an ATMega16A Payload Injector [Register or Login to view links] for PS3 JailBreak devices including PSGroove.

Download: ATMega16A Payload Injector v1.01

To quote: A lot of people that have bought the original PSJailbreak, or the various cheap clones, have been left in the dark with the old basic first public release of PSGroove that the cloners had burned into their ATMega16A chips that been widely used in the dongles that have been sold!

But of course with no bootloader burned in for future use, you can't update them to support the latest and greatest of the new payloads that have appeared like the Hermes V4b, and the very useful PL3 versions!

Along comes ATMega16A Payload Injector Project which originally started out as forum thread on Elotrolado, the very active Spanish site, with lots of good talented PS3 Developers!

So far on their Web site, they have lots of...
