20w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill went hands-on today with Killzone: Shadow Fall on PlayStation 4 with some PS4 footage below in video format.
To quote: At a recent event in New York, I got my hands on Guerrilla Games' upcoming PS4 launch title, Killzone: Shadow Fall.
The game will feel instantly familiar to anyone who's followed the long-running series, but there are enough new features and additions that even the most battle-worn Helghan veterans will want a primer before heading into battle.
The tools at your disposal in Shadow Fall are many: In addition to the requisite bullet-driven armaments, the new OWL drone gives you an enormous tactical advantage. Swipe up on DualShock 4's touchpad to set the OWL into attack mode, point your crosshairs at a space in front of an enemy and press L1 to deploy the drone, which both attacks its target head-on and serves as a distraction while you flank around the other side. The OWL is also incredibly useful when trying to keep track of one of the game's teleporting enemies. Just follow the bullets.
The OWL has other uses, too. Swipe left on the touchpad to put the drone into stun mode, which will incapacitate foes and nearby electronics.
Swipe downward for a drop-anywhere shield, creating last-minute...
20w ago - Recently we reported on a Sony DUH-D1000AA PS4 Dev Kit FCC filing, and now Gizmodo (linked above) has made available a picture of what a PlayStation 4 development unit looks like.
Below are the details, to quote: "The cat may already be out of the bag, but for many months we didn't know what the PS4 looked like.
Now, we know what the retail version will look, but what about the developer box Sony hid during the big reveal and on Jimmy Fallon? Well, here's an exclusive image we've acquired of some developer boxes that were used at E3.
Like any PC you'd build yourself, the guts are what actually matter and in the case of game consoles, the developer units typically just hide final console design. They're never really that attractive, which is the exact opposite of what we'll be seeing this holiday season."
20w ago - Today Brian Fleming at Sucker Punch Productions posted up some video footage of conversations with creators from Infamous Second Son on PS4.
To quote: Hope everyone is enjoying their summer outdoors in the nice weather! We've been looking through our windows with envy as we continue working hard on Second Son.
Last time we checked in, we were debuting a trailer and a taste of Delsin's smoke abilities at E3... It was really exciting for us to see the response from all of you - and we were also grateful to leave E3 with an armload of nominations and awards from the media.
It all was a nice lift for us as we continue to try to make Delsin's story in Seattle into something special...
Here's something else for you to take a look at, another entry in the "Conversation with Creators" series. The crew behind these came up and interviewed us about what it's like making PS4 games, and our experiences with the DualShock 4 controller (which is great, by the way!).
In addition to myself, Sucker Punch senior staff members Nate Fox, Jaime Griesemer and Horia Dociu discuss what developing Second Son has been like, and some of the things we're each excited about...
21w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman announced today alongside a video that Bid for Greatness has opened, and he is encouraging fans to own a piece of PlayStation history!
To quote: You know that Greatness Awaits, but did you know that you can bid on it?
Today sees the launch of BidForGreatness.com, a one-of-a-kind auction house showcasing ultra-rare PlayStation memorabilia seen in PlayStation's Greatness Awaits brand film during E3. If you win a bid, you'll be the owner of an exclusive, real-life piece of PlayStation history.
Here's how it works: You'll log into BidForGreatness.com using your PSN ID. The site will tally all of your hard-earned Gold Trophies, and you'll use them to bid on 15 unique items (don't worry, you'll keep the actual Trophies associated with your PSN ID).
You'll bid on the items you want using Gold Trophies and skip the ones you don't. Each day will see a new item go up for bid for just 24 hours, so be sure to check back often!
Of course, you'll want to think strategically. Spend all your Gold Trophies in one shot to try and score your dream item, or split your proceeds and go for several? The choice is yours. And the best part is, if you're short...
