135w ago - Today mrgatz85 has released a Beta of an application he calls DVD Enabler and source code, which allows users to play decrypted VOB files on Sony's PS3 entertainment system.

To quote from his blog (linked above): "I have started a new project I am calling it DVD ENABLER.

This will let you play Decrypted VOB files. Its simple and straight to the point, and easily able to reset the DVD drive.

1) You will need to dump your VOB files. (I am working on Ubuntu with libdvdcss + vobcopy)
in ubuntu you will need to do the run the following commands

$ sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh

$ sudo apt-get install vobcopy

2) Now with vobcopy installed run this command

$ vobcopy ~/Videos/XXX/

replace XXX with the movies name.

3) Now you need to FTP those VOB files to

/dev/hdd0/DVDS/XXX/

replace XXX with the movies name.

for example Hitman unrated looks like this

/dev/hdd0/DVDS/Hitman/HITMAN_UNRATED1-1.vob

/dev/hdd0/DVDS/Hitman/HITMAN_UNRATED1-2.vob

135w ago - Not too long ago jd200 posted a tutorial on How to Set Up Your PlayStation 3 for XLink Kai Online followed by DeViL303 starting a Forum topic where users can share their Xlink Kai IDs for PS3 JailBreak Online Gaming, and today Dukio.com (linked above) have made available a guide detailing how to play online using a JailBroken PS3 with XLink Kai.

Here is the scoop, to quote:

1. First, you must register an account with XLink at http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/signup.php. You don't have to fill out all details, only * are important.

2. Then, download XLink Kai which is in http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/downloads.php/ and simply run the installer.

3. Here comes the difficult part, which is forwarding your port. It is quite different depending on the type of your router. By default, its usually goes at 192.168.1.1. You must login and go into the port forwarding section. See how to port forward your router below:

138w ago - Although many fans have been disappointed to discover that English was not an included language for Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 EUR on PS3, fishcake over at the Evo-Web forums (linked above) put together English menus from the 2011 demo version for use with the European release!

According to developers at Konami, only the English version will be in English as this is to prevent imports due to the fact that its out in Europe a week before the UK.

Just extract the file dt05_e.rar to give you dt05_e.img and copy it over to: PS3_GAME/USRDIR of your Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 game directory.

If you don't already know, in Tales from Space: About a Blob you take on the role of a tiny space blob that lands on Earth.

What's special about this particular creature is that he can eat anything smaller than him, which in turn allows him to grow. As the blob grows he can eat larger and larger objects. The player's goal is to find their way through all the levels and eventually eat the world.

We recently came back from the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) where lots of people got a chance to play the game for the first time. The feedback was great, and we were extremely happy to see friends and couples have so much fun playing together in co-op.

In Tales from Space: About a Blob, two players can play simultaneously and interact by climbing or jumping off one another. Although the goal is for the blobs to work together, players can choose to attack or push each other around if they want, and can compete to see which player is better at destroying the world.

Around the office, people usually ping-pong back and forth between working together to solve puzzles, then messing each other up near obstacles or enemies.

141w ago - Today Jamal94 from PSX-Scene.com (linked above) has found out that once you backup your original PS3 game via the PS JailBreak Backup Manager to a USB HDD, transfer the game to your PC, and burn it onto a normal DVD-R disc (if the game is small enough) you can then insert it back into your JailBroken PS3 and play it! To quote:

Requirements:

1) JailBroken PS3 with Backup Manager, running v3.41 firmware!
2) Any Original Game Disc or Any JailBroken game files
3) Nero or any similar program on your PC
4) USB HDD

If you have your JailBroken game files skip to step 4

Step 1: Launch Backup Manager and Backup the original disc to the Ext. HDD

Step 2: Plug the Usb HDD to the pc and Browse to "X:/GAMEZ/[title_id] Ex. "G:/GAMEZ/BLES00188"

Step 3: Copy the contents of the [TITLE_ID] DIRECTORY to New folder on your desktop
