Rumor: New PS3 Slim 3.50 CECH-251x Models Not Downgradable?

650°
187w ago - While we know that PS3 Firmware 3.55 patches the ability to downgrade your PlayStation 3 console, this weekend Dukio reports that brand new 3.50 PS3 Consoles may also not be downgradable as well.

To quote: "Amid reports of new PS3 Slims owners who have no luck in downgrading their PS3 consoles, i would like to warn those people who like to buy a new PS3 console and Jailbreak it by looking at these suggestions below:

1. Beware of pre-installed 3.50 firmwares PS3 Slims, most people have no success in downgrading their console with any methods online on these consoles. The new batch of PS3 slims might have been given some kind of protection in order to prevent it from downgrading to an earlier version of firmware. So, please take note of it.

2. If you still want to buy a stocked 3.50 firmware console or that there are no other version of PS3s available in your area, i suggest buying on earlier CECH models, like CECH-25xx and clearly stay away with CECH-251x! You might also want to check the console with this sticker instead of this. Notice the bold part? dekoslav has confirmed that the bold one can be downgraded."

Guys, be careful before making a PS3 purchase...

Gliitch's Awesome XMB for PS3 JailBreak is Now Available

400°
187w ago - Recently gliitch has released what he calls Gliitch's Awesome XMB for PS3 JailBreak users, which is based on PlayStation 3 dev_flash and RCO file modifications.

Download: Gliitch's Awesome XMB for PS3

To quote: I have been working away at this for a few days, and its a follow up to my Unstable version of my XMB. Well good news people, it is now fully usable.

As this is still my first proper release, its not by any means complete. No debug options enabled yet, but i think i have done pretty well. Thank you GregoryRasputin for helping me out.

Little hint, check out "About Game" from any Homebrew app.

So, the time came for me to delve deep into dev_flash once again, to see what more i could find...

Well i found out how to change the title names of each application from User to Playstation Network. In doing so i learned that as cool as these mods are, it makes your PS3 EXTREAMLY UNSTABLE!

This is more of a learning curve for me, and it can be for the rest of you guys too

PS3MrEnigma on PS3 Mount Points, FileSystems and Alejandro

550°
188w ago - As a follow-up to his previous article, today ps3mrenigma details PS3 Mount Points, FileSystems and Alejandro on his blog (linked above).

To quote, roughly translated: Following the publication in the day yesterday the source code indicating the SYSCALL used for the assembly system is no longer necessary for security, keep this information privately, and whether the information actually had not been published by my, despite claims to the contrary by many users, was to prevent misuse and attack the flash, anyway as I said in my last post we had in mind when it was polished release something new, everybody is free believe us or not, but it is.

For more information, an old post of mine: http://ps3mrenigma.wordpress.com/2010/11/10/a-quick-note-a...reversing-post/

As is the case, step assemblies are writing, how they work, and which are assembled and disassembled as explaining in turn the SYSCALL used in the process.

First of all understand that this post is a technical post, so that many users will serve you for nothing more than for your personal knowledge, which I think is worth more than any other program exists or can be made to root it.

NOTE: This post...

PS3MrEnigma Explains Mount Alejandro PS3 Dev Flash Homebrew

400°
188w ago - A few days back we reported on Mount Alejandro PS3 Dev Flash Homebrew by Spanish developers JaiCraB and ps3mrenigma, and today ps3mrenigma has explained it in further detail on his blog (linked above).

To quote, roughly translated: First of all, apologize for making this post nearly a week after the appearance of the application,

Unfortunately I have the time to update the blog as I wanted, but nevertheless, better late than never,

I want to thank all those who have had words of thanks to the program, I am pleased to see that it was well accepted.

Although I could not help but read some comments that came a few days ago and that made me laugh, lack of knowledge by giving statements without really knowing how the application.

That is why what has happened to answer some questions that might exist.

A. Do you use 'Alexander' some unknown exploit?

The answer is NO. The method that uses 'Alexander' to perform its function is very simple, there is nothing magical nor is it an exploit, as I read, still laughing a while ago of some user.

While exploits in the PS3 know, none of them is used in 'Alexander', are not necessary...
