197w ago - A PSP Phone has been rumored for quite some time now to compete with Apple, and now the Wall Street Journal is reporting that a portable PlayStation device which shares characteristics of netbooks, electronic-book readers and handheld-game machines is indeed coming from Sony.
The device is designed to compete against multifunction products such as Apple's iPad tablet and the smartphone from Sony will allegedly be able to access downloadable games, movies and music, just like the iPhone.
As expected, Sony has labeled the news as 'speculation' only, and noted that it is not their policy to discuss potential products prior to an official announcement.
To quote: "As already announced, Sony (including SCE) and Sony Ericsson have been strengthening their collaboration in the networked mobile space.
However, it is not our strategy to discuss future products or business plan before we make a formal announcement. Any media report that suggests details of the product or business is based on speculation."

197w ago - Halfbrick's Phil Larsen has shared a video today showcasing Rocket Racing which will be coming to PSN as a PS3 and PSP Mini game next week.
To quote: Rocket Racing is the next title to hit PSP minis from Halfbrick, and I'm excited to announce that it will be released next Thursday, March 11.
Rocket Racing has been developed from the ground up, combining high-speed futuristic racing with classic top-down gameplay, which is a perfect fit for minis.
Each track has been designed with a unique twist, suspended high in the air above the clouds and cityscapes to give players a light and almost surreal feeling as they drift around the crisp, detailed courses.
Challenge Mode is the main backbone of gameplay, giving players a number of tasks to complete over six different tiers. Completing once challenge with its specific objectives will unlock adjacent challenges along the tier, so players can choose their own path to the final race.
A key part of racing is the ability to grind. Grinding is a new concept which involves positioning your rockets against the outer walls of the tracks. This opposing force will give you a speed boost as well...
197w ago - Today Folklore Associate Producer Eric Fong has announced that the new Patchwork Heroes PSP demo will arrive on PSN this Thursday, as follows:
In the last Patchwork Heroes blog post, Brian Chou introduced you to the world of Patchwork Heroes... and YES, it's a very unique game that's difficult to describe.
Coming from our very creative minds at PlayStation in Japan who brought you titles like LocoRoco, Patapon, and echochrome, this is another unique title unlike anything you've played before.
Thankfully you'll be able to discover the unique wit and charm of this game soon, because the demo will be available Tomorrow, right here on the Playstation Network.
For those of you that can't wait, or want to know more about the game before the demo hits, here's a short description to whet your appetite. You play as Titori, the squad leader of a rag-tag airborne demolition team tasked with defending your small town from an armada of flying battleships.
Out-manned, out-gunned, and OUT OF YOUR MIND, you must drop in on these mechanical behemoths and dismantle them piece by piece with nothing more than your hammer, saw, and keen insight on destruction. To make matters worse, these juggernauts are defended...
