650°
97w ago - Following up on the initial announcement and video demo, today Sony hacker Total_Noob has released the TN-V Custom Emulator Firmware (CEF) 6.60 for PS Vita handheld consoles.

Below are the details, to quote: The highly anticipated Custom Emulator Firmware TN-V from Total_Noob is finally here!

TN-V brings the XMB experience to the Vita and has been in development for over half a year, and is finally ready to be released. The goal was to bring a full PSP CFW to Vita and its been finally accomplished.

TN-V supports ALL exploits we have ever released and will support any future kernel exploits that happen to get released, but remember that there’s a small chance of one being released anytime soon considering the rarity of them. The next release will probably be VHBL which doesn’t support TN-V and can only do emulators and homebrew.

Below you can find the features, instructions and some tips. Please read through it thoroughly but if you have any issues, head over to the /Talk forums! We hope everyone enjoys this, and special thanks to TN for...

Video: Indie Horror Hit Lone Survivor is Coming to PS3 and PS Vita

100°
98w ago - Superflat Games developer Jasper Byrne has announced today alongside a video that indie horror hit Lone Survivor is coming to the PS3 and PS Vita consoles.

Below are the details, to quote: It's with great pleasure that I can finally reveal the details of the PS3 and PS Vita versions of our horror game Lone Survivor!

Lone Survivor's rich story continues to provoke heated debate amongst fans and critics alike. The soundtrack has also been consistently praised. I really could never have expected or hoped for such success, from what is a very personal game to me.

But what is Lone Survivor? For those who missed it the first time round, this is a psychological-survival-adventure, where the choice of how to survive is up to you. It's the last record of our nameless, masked protagonist, holed-up in a city full of diseased monsters, starving and exhausted.

When we join him on his quest, he has already begun to question whether what he sees is even real. You can choose to sneak through the game without firing a single shot, or to kill everything in your path.

You can eat and sleep well, or resort to drugs to keep going. You can search for survivors, or try to escape the city alone. You can...

One of the most widely used menus for eCFW on the PS Vita is about to receive a full update, lots of new features, improved code, optimizations, and much more will come with pyMenu 0.4 and you’re about to see what it can offer, but first we’ll do a walkthrough of all the version pyMenu has had and how it has evolved from being a very simplistic menu, to a full fledged XMB replacement.

pyMenu 0.1: The beginning

pyMenu was created in June 2012 as an entry to the VHBL Menu Contest and competed against yMenu (which was also created for that contest). Most of the work in pyMenu had gone to installing the pspsdk and modifying the python interpreter to be able to load homebrews in VHBL.

The little time I had and the time the SDK + interpreter consumed left me with very little time for the actual menu. pyMenu was a pioneer in...

Video: Killzone: Mercenary - Cash is King on PlayStation Vita

50°
98w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared a video below today spotlighting Killzone: Mercenary where he states cash is king on PlayStation Vita.

To quote: Not long ago the US and European press got its first hands-on experiences with Killzone: Mercenary, Guerrilla Games Cambridge's upcoming PS Vita shooter. Despite gracing Vita's portable screen, the team behind Mercenary is hellbent on providing a full FPS experience with all the trimmings.

Come September, you'll get a full nine-mission story-driven campaign, an eight-player competitive multiplayer mode, and a collection of bonus challenge missions.

Watch our new video to get the inside story straight from Art Director Tom Jones.

Much has already been said concerning Killzone: Mercenary's graphical fidelity, but I'll add my voice to the choir: This is one fine, fine-looking game. Because Mercenary runs on a modified version of the Killzone 3 rendering engine, you'll see modern niceties such as volumetric lighting and smoke, high-res environment textures, gleaming metal and realistic-looking shadows.

None of this would be out of place for a modern PS3 shooter, but portable gaming rarely sees this level of extreme graphical detail....
