One of the most widely used menus for eCFW on the PS Vita is about to receive a full update, lots of new features, improved code, optimizations, and much more will come with pyMenu 0.4 and you’re about to see what it can offer, but first we’ll do a walkthrough of all the version pyMenu has had and how it has evolved from being a very simplistic menu, to a full fledged XMB replacement.

pyMenu 0.1: The beginning

pyMenu was created in June 2012 as an entry to the VHBL Menu Contest and competed against yMenu (which was also created for that contest). Most of the work in pyMenu had gone to installing the pspsdk and modifying the python interpreter to be able to load homebrews in VHBL.

The little time I had and the time the SDK + interpreter consumed left me with very little time for the actual menu. pyMenu was a pioneer in...

Video: Killzone: Mercenary - Cash is King on PlayStation Vita

94w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared a video below today spotlighting Killzone: Mercenary where he states cash is king on PlayStation Vita.

To quote: Not long ago the US and European press got its first hands-on experiences with Killzone: Mercenary, Guerrilla Games Cambridge's upcoming PS Vita shooter. Despite gracing Vita's portable screen, the team behind Mercenary is hellbent on providing a full FPS experience with all the trimmings.

Come September, you'll get a full nine-mission story-driven campaign, an eight-player competitive multiplayer mode, and a collection of bonus challenge missions.

Watch our new video to get the inside story straight from Art Director Tom Jones.

Much has already been said concerning Killzone: Mercenary's graphical fidelity, but I'll add my voice to the choir: This is one fine, fine-looking game. Because Mercenary runs on a modified version of the Killzone 3 rendering engine, you'll see modern niceties such as volumetric lighting and smoke, high-res environment textures, gleaming metal and realistic-looking shadows.

None of this would be out of place for a modern PS3 shooter, but portable gaming rarely sees this level of extreme graphical detail....

94w ago - Following up on his initial announcement, today PlayStation Vita developer Total_Noob has shared a demo video of his upcoming 6.60 TN-V CEF (Custom Emulator Firmware) for Sony's PS Vita handheld gaming console.

Below are the details, to quote: "Total_Noob has released a more in-depth trailer video of his upcoming CEF (Custom Emulator Firmware) for the PS Vita.

The brand new video that you can watch below showcases TN-V better than the last one, showing off more features such as changing themes and playing music with the full XMB experience running smoothly on the PS Vita.

As we previously announced, TN-V will be compatible with all of the 2.02 and below exploit releases thus far for the Vita; TN-V is not a new exploit itself.

TN-V is still set to release this month, but nothing specific just yet so check back!"
