To quote: I'm sure you've been keeping up with this blog, so you're probably familiar with our upcoming title, The Punisher: No Mercy, inspired by Marvel Comics' rich Punisher comic book history. Needless to say, I'm back and I come bearing awesome news for all you true Punisher fans!

It's been a long time coming, but today our studio has finally confirmed that this PSN-exclusive is set for release on July 2, 2009. If that's not enough, we also nailed down a price that should get all you virtual vigilantes foaming at the mouth. Come the 2nd, you'll be able to pick up No Mercy exclusively through the PlayStation Store for only $9.99.

For those new to the game, No Mercy is an action-packed first-person shooter! You can fight alongside or take on an eclectic mix of Punisher allies and villains in online arena-style multiplayer matches that feature a variety of solo and team-based missions with up to eight players.

Valve Confirms Left 4 Dead 2 is Not Coming to PlayStation 3

550°
284w ago - Over the [Register or Login to view links] the [Register or Login to view links] had a Left 4 Dead 2 PS3 version listed (pictured below) in the "Coming Soon" section, with their 'games' page showing a placeholder box art for the title as well.

Since then, the EA Web site has been updated and no longer includes the PS3 listing... however, Valve's Doug Lombardi had this to say:

"That's a typo. Check the trailer - 'exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC.'

-Cheers"

So there you have it... no Left 4 Dead 2 on the PS3, at least for the time being anyway.

Left 4 Dead Creation Tools Coming Next Week

50°
284w ago - While the campaigns that shipped with Left 4 Dead were all pretty good, you do get sick of them after a while. Which is where custom, user-generated campaigns come in.

Next week, Valve will be updating Left 4 Dead so that these custom missions - like the Resident Evil 3 mod we showed you earlier in the day - are both more prominent within the userbase and are easier to download and play.

To quote: Firstly, with this update map creators will be able to package their content into a single file (a .VPK). This will make displaying, downloading and installing the campaigns a cinch for other users.

The game's matchmaking system will also be updated to reflect this, with "extensive support for custom add-on campaigns". Valve explains:

"When creating or searching for a lobby, a new option named "Add-on campaign" will let you select from among the add-on campaigns that you have installed. You can then find games or lobbies as well as create a lobby for that campaign.

You can invite your friends, too. If they do not have the campaign installed, they will automatically be offered and an option to download it."

This is all going to be made possible via the release of the game's SDK (authoring tools), which after a stint in beta are going to be officially rolled out...

Namco Museum Essentials Coming to PlayStation Home in July

100°
284w ago - Japan's Namco Museum Essentials is crossing the pond to America's PlayStation Network this July.

The downloadable app will serve as a hub for various Namco arcade games, such as Pac-man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Dragon Spirit, Xevious, and a new 1080p "re-envisioned" Xevious: Resurrection.

In addition to the standard features (trophies, leaderboards), players will be able to unlock PlayStation Home rewards to proudly display in their virtual apartments.

To quote: Namco Bandai will also be launching a new destination within PlayStation Home simultaneously with the release of Museum Essentials.

It will serve as the hub for all of Namco Bandai's upcoming downloadable games and will include a virtual arcade featuring a trial version of Museum Essentials.

In addition to the free demo, PlayStation Home items can be unlocked for those who visit the space. All in all, it looks as though Home fans (casual and hardcore) will have a lot to look forward to.

Heavy Weapon is Coming to PS3 Today via PlayStation Network!

200°
285w ago - PopCap Games Associate Producer Michael Santora stopped by the PlayStation Blog today to announce news that Heavy Weapon will be hitting PSN today.

To quote: Having grown up on classic arcade shooters and original game consoles, Heavy Weapon holds a special place in my heart. It's a true shooter game that always reminds me of my youth, pumping quarters into machines at the local arcade.

Heavy Weapon was originally developed on the PC for Windows, but it's now found a home on the PLAYSTATION 3. The DUALSHOCK analog sticks give moving & shooting in independent directions a more arcade-like feel. Playing survival mode online or locally with your friends is a great way to earn the "Survive 12 Minutes" PS3 Trophy.

Multiplayer mode lets you play with up to 3 other people so you can play with old friends or new ones!

Heavy Weapon fans can enjoy a new feature created exclusively for the PS3, which is the ability to shoot down and destroy the supply helicopter as it delivers power ups to you. It makes some of the later levels a bit more challenging since you have to pay more attention to your allies while you're shooting down everything else in the sky.

That's all for now. We're working on bringing you [Register or Login to view links]...
