Video: Sony Goes Hands-on with Freedom Wars on PS Vita

50°
7w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill went hands-on today sharing a PS Vita video showcasing Freedom Wars on PlayStation Vita below.

To quote: PS Vita exclusive Freedom Wars comes courtesy of Japan Studio, Dimps, and Shift, and places you into the unfortunate shoes of a prisoner facing a one million year sentence.

It's not all bad news, though! By battling fearsome Abductors and rescuing citizens, your captors will generously reduce the length of your imprisonment - a few years at a time.

Featuring four-player local co-op (via an ad-hoc wireless connection, with vacant slots filled by computer-controlled companions), Freedom Wars rewards coordinated cooperative play.

One player can use a grappling hook to pull an enemy to the ground, while another dashes in to rescue an innocent trapped within the beast's chest.

While transporting a civilian to safety, you'll rely on the protection of your teammates to keep you and your cargo alive. Alternatively, eight player (4v4) competitive play is an option when playing via the magic of the internet.

I recently went hands-on with Freedom Wars, along with my pals Ken, Kumi and Jake, the results of which you can see at the top...

Video: The Hungry Horde Devours PlayStation Vita This Year

7w ago - Nosebleed Interactive's Andreas Firnigl shared a PS Vita video trailer today confirming that The Hungry Horde devours PlayStation Vita this year.

To quote: Wow. We're featured on the PlayStation.Blog! I'm Andreas Firnigl, Director at [Register or Login to view links].

We're a small development studio based in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England, and the reason we're surprised we're on here is that we've come rather a long way in the last couple of years.

We'd like to introduce you all to "The Hungry Horde." Like all good ideas, it's a pretty simple concept. You start the game off controlling a couple of wayward zombies. Every time you bite a human they join your ever-increasing horde, until you're controlling whole streets full of the undead.

Unfortunately, rampaging through the streets eating brains is always going to grab someone's attention, and sensing the danger to the population the government has decided to do the only sensible thing they can: quarantine the area and nuke you.

So it's a race against the clock to gather a big enough horde to smash down any human defenses and take on armed guards, tanks and any other opposition that gets between you and those tasty brains.

Assault Android Cactus on PS4 and PS Vita: 8 Ways to Play

50°
7w ago - Witch Beam Artist / Programmer Tim Dawson announced today that Assault Android Cactus is hitting PS4 and PS Vita with 8 ways to play!

To quote: Hello! I'm Tim, the coder and art guy of Witch Beam, a three-person team making Assault Android Cactus which is heading to PS4 and PS Vita later this year.

Assault Android Cactus is an intense arena shooter in the arcade tradition where each character has an unlimited primary weapon that powers up over the course of the level and a sub weapon that works on a cool down.

Where a shmup might have different ships, we have different androids, and we had a lot of fun designing our eight characters and drawing on our favorite arcade influences to give them each their own feel and keep them fun to play.

Cactus, our games namesake, sports the classic vulcan style machine gun. Fast, precise, and - once it's leveled up - able to tear apart pretty much anything. Her secondary weapon is the flamethrower, a short range, high-damage weapon that burns through packs of enemies and puts big dents in boss health bars.

Holly's Seeker uses homing bullets - they lack punch but are easy to use and backed up by a slow traveling but destructive Cannonball to smash through enemy lines. Lemon uses the classic Spreadshot, when upgraded it has the...

8w ago - Grip Games CEO Jakub Mikyska posted up a video today announcing that Unmechanical: Extended Edition is coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: Hi everyone! This is Jakub from Grip Games, the team that brought you The Impossible Game and the upcoming Jet Car Stunts.

It is my pleasure to be finally able to tell you about our next great project that we are working on right now - Unmechanical: Extended Edition for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita.

Unmechanical, originally made by Talawa Games and Teotl Studios for PC, is a gorgeous puzzle platformer that won numerous awards for its visual design and, even more importantly, won the hearts of players all around the world. It now finally comes to the PSN in an extended edition that brings new puzzles and story, published by Grip Games.

If you have never heard of Unmechanical before, it may remind you of some of the classic games in the genre, like Limbo, Machinarium or the Oddworld series. You control a little flying robot that has been kidnapped into a strange underground complex.

In order to get out, you will have to solve the mystery of this strangely un-mechanical place and also solve numerous puzzles along the way. See the trailer to...
