Ultimate Ghost 'n Goblins Available Tomorrow on PSN for PSP!

50°
301w ago - Capcom's John Diamonon elaborated on his previous promise of a whole slew of PSP and PSOne games coming to the PlayStation Network:

To kick off 2009, I'm happy to announce that Ultimate Ghost 'n Goblins will be available tomorrow in the PSP store for $19.99. For those of you not familiar with the game, UGG is a side-scrolling platform game featuring the heroic knight, Arthur, as he battles hordes of undead in his quest to save Princess Prin Prin.

I think just having the name "Prin Prin" is reason enough for saving. UGG maintains the 2D gameplay mechanics of this classic franchise and is the only game in the series to employ 3D graphics. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is intuitive yet addicting, everything you want in a quality PSP game. Check out the video!

I also have a new Flock trailer. Peep these sheep!

With over 55 stages, two player co-op, level creating-editing-rating-sharing, trophy support and custom soundtracks, this game is a motherflockin' good time!

And for those in the San Francisco Bay Area, I hope to see you at the Street Fighter Fight Club this Friday. I'll be the one fitted with the new Triumvir Street Fighter Shadaloo jacket...

Will PlayStation 3 Become the Ultimate FPS Console?

350°
311w ago - So after weighing in on Resistance 2, it started to dawn on us: is this now the franchise to beat in the FPS genre? And with the impending Killzone 2, is the PlayStation 3 now home to the best FPS experiences on the planet?

Typically, Microsoft has been responsible for the best FPS experiences ever since the original Xbox launched way back in 2001 with Halo. Even multiplatform FPSs have been better on a Microsoft console, although we believe that trend will soon fade in this generation.

Earlier, developers simply didn't have a good handle on the PlayStation 3, but now, things are starting to come together and it appears it's Sony's machine that has the best to offer in the FPS genre. Xbox 360 loyalists will consistently turn to Halo 3, but although I am a big fan of that trilogy, the fact of the matter is that Resistance 2 is better.

Insomniac's initial effort, as good as it was, may not have been a "Halo killer," but the sequel most certainly is. Now, will there be a Halo 4? Even if there is, I will continue to give the edge to Resistance until I see something that changes my mind. After all, I was a little disappointed in Halo 3; clearly, that game was made more as a multiplayer attraction, and I didn't think much of the single-player campaign.

But R2 delivers big time in terms...

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storms PlayStation 3 Tomorrow!

50°
311w ago - Per Hiroshi Matsuyama (CyberConnect2) via the official PS Blog today:

My name is Hiroshi Matsuyama from CyberConnect2, the developer of NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM.

Last time I spoke with you, I covered some of our basic game features. Today, as promised, I'd like to share some of our development secrets with you so that you can learn about how we made this incredible game.

We began work on the game in January 2006, while most of our company was still working on the .hack//G.U. series for PlayStation 2. We hand-picked a team of our 10 most obsessive developers which constantly grew in number as the project progressed.

The team expanded from 10 to 20, 30 and eventually 65 people, which were all working on the game for the last 9 months of development. Our basic concept for the game was to eliminate the lines between traditional animation and video games. This is a pretty serious goal! We knew that to meet this goal, we would have to produce a game the likes of which nobody has ever seen.

Fundamentally speaking, I think CyberConnect2 is good at action games. After gameplay, we pay a lot of attention to graphics. With Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, we knew we couldn't just advance our graphics technology by just one step - we had to aim for two steps....
