50°
15w ago - Following up on their Urban Camouflage DualShock 4 Controller, today Sony also made available a Press Release FAQ containing answers to every question fans may have including pricing and more details below.

To quote: Sony Computer Entertainment just sent in a press release including an extensive FAQ that will probably answer every question you might have about PlayStation Now and its upcoming beta phases.

Interestingly, details on pricing are also provided, and we learn that despite the fact that the open beta will still involve testing, it will require users to pay for the games they want to rent.

Is the open beta service a commercial launch? What exactly is the open beta service?
Yes. By expanding access to all PS4 and PS3 users in the Mainland US and most of Canada, SCE will further evolve the service by receiving feedback from users. Users are able to enjoy PS3 titles on their PS3/PS4 via rental.

Why are you calling it an open beta service, even though it is a commercial launch?
PS Now is a pioneer service, and we will continue to evolve it in order to deliver the best user experience. We will listen to user feedback and...

Sony Announces Surgeon Simulator PS4 is Coming to PlayStation 4

50°
15w ago - Sony Community Manager Poppy Byron announced today that Surgeon Simulator Coming PS4 is coming to PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: When we first heard that the new generation consoles were arriving, we were super excited about the possibility that the game - OUR game - could be one of the titles available for PS4 owners to enjoy.

There was one problem, though: how on Earth were we going to get the infamous controls to work on DualShock4?

Would the game look good on a next-gen console in a living room?

Would it still be funny? Would Bob be as dashingly handsome on a big screen?

So many questions... we had to try. It turned out that creating a control scheme for Nigel's arm on PS4 was one of the most enjoyable parts of the process.

The first and most obvious step to take was to map hand movement and hand rotation to the left and right thumb sticks, as this is what players tend to expect on a console game. The finger controls were less obvious.

We had a lot of ideas which turned out to be a bit too clumsy even for Surgeon Simulator. In the end we decided to lose the one-button-per-finger design used on the PC and instead condense it down into just two of the shoulder buttons.

The most exciting part was when we started...

Sony Introduces Micro Console PlayStation TV, Stream PS4 to Rooms

300°
15w ago - Today Sony Senior Product Manager Adam Grant officially introduced their new micro console PlayStation TV to Europe, which allows gamers to stream the PS4 to other rooms in their house.

To quote: Introducing PlayStation TV - A new micro console available later this year for 99.

At E3 today we introduced PlayStation TV, an entertainment system that extends the capabilities of PlayStation 4 allowing players to stream their PS4 games to any TV in their house.

We believe PS TV makes the ideal companion to PS4, enhancing the user experience and connectivity of the console and providing a second gaming station for an attractive price - PS TV will be available this year in Europe and across the PAL region for 99 (RRP).

Released in Japan and Asian last November as PlayStation Vita TV, the system has since continuously evolved through software updates and content enhancements. Adopting the same chip sets and system software as the PlayStation Vita, PS TV has a 6.5cm 10.5cm ultra slim size - the smallest of any PlayStation platform that connects to a TV.

In response to the demands from users in Europe and the PAL region, SCEE will introduce the system under a new name and colour, and will deliver entertainment experiences only possible on PS TV.

The main...

Sony Announces New Free-to-Play Titles Coming to PlayStation

100°
15w ago - Sony VP of Platforms Marketing John Koller announced at E3 2014 today that several new free-to-play titles are coming to PlayStation!

Below are all the details, to quote: We firmly believe that the best game development ideas can come from anywhere and anyone, and as the brand that stands for gamers, we want to make it easy for gamers to step outside of their comfort zones and experience these new types of games.

Tonight at our E3 Press Conference, we announced more good news for gamers: with the help of our amazing Worldwide Studios team and third-party partners, PlayStation is introducing a robust catalogue of Free-to-Play (F2P) games with a goal of offering more ways for gamers to discover and connect with a larger variety of titles and experiences.

The PlayStation F2P initiative will give gamers the opportunity to try a variety of games that they may have not otherwise played, at no cost or financial commitment. We'll leave it up to you, the gamer, to decide how much you want to invest in the game.

The development community was central to PS4 platform development and ultimately has helped us create an expansive library of unique experiences. The F2P initiative is another testament to what makes PlayStation a leader in the industry. From Triple-A blockbusters like...
