New game similar to Singstar: Lips

50°
327w ago - Lips is a new game that is pretty much like Singstar. There will be 30 songs you can sing along to, some of which are by well known people, while others are by lesser knowns.

Sue me if I'm wrong, having never played Singstar, but it also brings some new features to the fold like being able to upload your own songs and sing along to them. Plus there will be downloadable songs, too.

30 songs: The songs include a mix of popular songs like Madonna, and local songs specific to the United Kingdom.

2 Wireless Interactive Microphones: Wireless mics are interactive, with lights on the shaft of the microphone that pulse to the rhythm of your voice, and motion sensors that allow you to dance, move or swing to score points.

Use your own music: Take songs from CD or your iPod, and upload them into the game. The game will reduce the vocals so you can sing along and be heard, and score you on whether you're in tune. Lyrics can also be added directly into the song to sing along.

Download songs: Hundreds of music videos with lyrics are available online for a small fee, which you sing and be scored on.

SingStar Volume 2 for PS3 Q&A now available!

50°
335w ago - ThreeSpeech has posted a huge Q&A on SingStar Volume 2 today. A question many were asking was whether all the tracks from SingStar Vol 1 & 2 be downloadable from SingStore.

Sony say that they "are working hard at clearing tracks for the SingStore and will continue to clear as many tracks as quickly as possible. When Volume 2 is released a number of tracks from the disc-based product will also be available to buy in the SingStore."

They also said that the new Harmony mode will also be available to owners of the first SingStar blu-ray disc with a free upgrade via the PSN.

To quote: 1. Will all the tracks from SingStar Vol 1 & 2 be downloadable from SingStore and when will this happen?

'Licensing music for digital distribution is a different process to that of the disc-based product. We are working hard at clearing tracks for the SingStore and will continue to clear as many tracks as quickly as possible. When Vol 2 is released a number of tracks from the disc-based product will also be available to buy in the SingStore.'

2. Will the Harmony Mode on SingStar Vol 2 be available to owners of the first SingStar blu-ray disk? Will this be as a downloadable upgrade and will user's be charged for it?

SingStar PS3 Delay Due to Licensing, No US Date

50°
360w ago - Sony doesn't want to launch without a stocked online marketplace.

A few weeks ago, Sony Computer Entertainment America confirmed that SingStar on PlayStation 3 had been delayed. The company wouldn't elaborate, but their official statement indicated the hold up was a licensing issue, not development. Then, last week, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced SingStar would arrive overseas in December, but SCEA wouldn't assign that date for the US version to 1UP.

"We have not yet set a US launch date," said a SCEA spokesperson. Additionally, when SCEA announced their new SKU, we had the chance to speak with Sony's VP of Marketing for PlayStation, Peter Dille, about the delay and came up with confirmation of a licensing hang up.

1UP: You mentioned Singstar, but that's not coming to PS3 this year anymore, correct?

Dille: That's correct. We had to push Singstar back a little bit, with an eye to making the downloadable content...

1UP: So it's more of a licensing issue?

Dille: Yeah, it's not a technology issue at all. It'll be a disc-based product and that'll be a great experience in and of itself, but obviously we're equally if not more excited to deliver content via the PlayStation Network and have consumers experience new songs that way. We want to make...
