Video: HandCircus Reveals Okabu: The Co-op Adventure on PSN

50°
145w ago - Today HandCircus Founder Simon Oliver has revealed co-op adventure details alongside a video on Okabu for PlayStation Network.

To quote: With less than a week to go until OKABU launches, we're slightly over-excited about getting it into your hands!

There's still so much to talk about the game, so we wanted to delve a little deeper into the world of OKABU and the different lands that make up the adventure.

We got a slightly carried away during development, and the game ended up quite a bit bigger than we'd originally imagined. Personally I blame Shane (OKABU's level designer), who kept on suggesting awesome new ideas that we felt we really couldn't cut.

As a result the four worlds are pretty huge, so big that OKABU features a Platinum Trophy, earned through tracking down all the medals throughout the story campaign, finding the numerous secrets tucked away throughout the world, as well as besting the four minigames.

Following on from last week's post about the Heroes of OKABU, we really wanted to demonstrate how their different skills fit together, so we've got a fresh video below that shows longer sections of gameplay. It also shows how two players can work together when playing in Co-op mode.

Video: Studio Head Reveals Rocketbirds: Couch PSN Co-Op Mode

100°
145w ago - Today Producer and Studio Head Sian Yue Tan has shared a video reveal of the new Rocketbirds: Couch Co-Op Mode for PlayStation Network.

To quote: After its triple nomination at the 2010 Independent Games Festival, the Rocketbirds universe is finally approaching release - and only on PSN.

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken takes you on a cinematic platform adventure through Albatropolis.

In the single-player mode, you're Hardboiled Chicken, the original Coq of War, on a mission to hunt down the Penguin's corrupt leader, Putzki. Along the way you'll have to kill many Penguins, solve puzzles, incite revolution, and maybe possibly pilot a few jetpacks.

Today I'd like to share a bit about the game's two-player couch co-op mode, since we are particularly happy with the way it's turned out. But first, check out some gameplay in our new Rocketbirds co-op video.

We had always wanted a couch co-op mode for the game ever since we started development on the PS3 (because, well, co-op is fun), but didn't know how and if it would work for our non-scrolling platformer. Simple questions needed answering, such as; "What should happen when one player leaves the current screen the other one is still on it?"

ThatGameCompany Reveals Journey on PSN Begins Spring 2012

50°
147w ago - Today ThatGameCompany co-founder Jenova Chen has announced that Journey will be hitting PSN during Spring of 2012, with the details as follows:

First of all I would like to thank you for your support during the closed beta for our upcoming game Journey. It was a great success!

For the past few months, we kept getting asked about Journey's release date. Yes, we haven't said anything about our release in a while mainly because we really couldn't tell. And we don't want to throw out a date that we are not sure about, and later disappoint our players.

Fortunately, the online beta went very well, and our continued playtests have given us great feedback on the work we have left to complete. While there is still a ton of care and polish needed, we can't wait to finally deliver Journey, TGC's take on an online adventure game.

Like all our games, Journey is an experiment. In the end, it's what you think that matters. We are happy to announce Journey will be released Spring 2012, so you can experience the adventure for yourself.

Video: Namco Bandai Reveals Katamari Damacy Coming to PS Vita

50°
149w ago - Today Namco Bandai Games Community Manager Rich Bantegui has revealed alongside a video trailer that Katamari Damacy is coming to PS Vita.

To quote: Many of you have been following me over the last year looking for the latest details on all of our games.

This week, you may have also been listening into what we have happening on our Facebook and Twitter for news coming out of the Tokyo Game Show for big fan-favorite series like Tekken, Soulcalibur, Ace Combat and even the upcoming action-epic, Dark Souls.

While there's plenty of news flying about for all of our biggest titles, we wanted the PlayStation community to be among the first to get the scoop on the latest entry in a series that's dear to all of our hearts, and one that features the tiniest of heroes.

Fresh from Tokyo Game Show, Namco Bandai has just announced that Katamari Damacy (working title) will be arriving soon for the PS Vita! Check out the fresh trailer above that we wanted to roll out to the fans here in North America.

You're going to have to listen your old pop the King of All Cosmos once again as he commands you to roll up anything and everything in sight!

One of the coolest new features is the ability to use the rear touch pad...
