E3 2009: PS3 Debug Firmware 2.76 and 2.60 Leaked!

650°
289w ago - Well, it's not actually an E3 post but if Sony held an E3 for PS3 Devs they may have offered these, right?

Today two very nice guys (Garfield and another, whose nickname we will add if he wishes) have shared PS3 Debug/Test Firmware 2.76 and 2.60 with the resident PS3 Devs here- THANKS guys!!!

Unlike many PS3 Firmware updates that block access to certain folders and directories in dev_flash, 2.76 allows full read access to dev_flash, so you can access the PS1 and PS2 emu files, as well as all of the system sprx's, some self's, xml's and rco's.

We don't yet have the official 2.76 changelog, but below are some changes (excluding all the bugfixes) from 2.6:

[New Feature]
•HDD boot games and game data can now be deleted from the system software menu that appears when the PS button is pressed during the game. However, data currently in use by the game is, as before, not deletable.

[Specification Change]
•The keyboard function keys F17 - F24 are now reserved for the system. Thus, it will no longer be possible...

PS3 EBOOT.BIN ELF Memory Offsets Mapped for Debug Consoles

50°
302w ago - This was posted 2 days ago (working thread) in the PlayStation 3 Dev News Forum courtesy of XVISTAMAN2005 with assistance from idone, and is handy for PS3 Debug console owners in rebuilding decrypted ELF's from a SELF launched into memory.

To quote: Well this took some time but we have it sorted out, CJPC posted a while back ago that an eboot.bin had been decypted from memory. The bad thing about this is that it is verry difficult to figure out how the file was before it was loaded and to put it back to an executalbe file.

Well after HRS and sleepless nights this has been sorted and put in an easy to do map. The following is an example of the the file location offsets located in the elf header. Based on this the file can be rebuilt in a matter of mins.

NOTE: THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF HOW IT COULD BE DONE THE MEMORY OFFFSET LOACTIONS CAN CHANGE A BIT FROM FILE TO FILE SO ONE WOULD HAVE TO DOUBLE CHECK THERE MEM DUMP FOR SECTIONS IF THE OFFSET TABLE DOES NOT MATCH UP BUT THIS MAP WAS USED ON 3 DIFFERNT EBOOT.BIN'S SO...

• 60 GB HDD
• System software 2.30

• Comes with original SixAxis controller, but I will throw in a DualShock 3 instead for a little extra, either will work

PS3 Debug Firmware Update 2.52 Now Available!

650°
306w ago - Over a month ago papa44 made mention [Register or Login to view links] that he was planning to share PS3 Debug Firmware Update 2.52 with our community. Sadly, after stating he was uploading it he never replied again... and to date has been online only lurking.

Just recently I ran across it myself, but since it didn't come with any documentation all I had was a PS3UPDAT.PUP file that WinHex showed as being "2.52" (122 MB - 128,615,182 bytes).

The good news is, CJPC was able to successfully install and confirm for us that it is indeed a legitimate PS3 2.52 Debug Firmware update file, and as a result we have now added it to our [Register or Login to view links] section for those interested!

Some changes CJPC noticed during his brief time testing it out were as follows: It now includes Network emulation and you can now save the PUP files on the PS3 HDD and access them later.

For example, if you click System Update, then Install from HDD, it will give you a list of PUPs stored on the HDD which can be installed. Additionally, all of the PS3 [Register or Login to view links]...

Old But New News: PS3 Debug Firmware 2.30 Leaked!

300°
340w ago - This is a few days old, but since nobody submitted it here goes: Recently PS3 Debug Firmware Update v2.30 was posted on the Spanish Web site Elotrolado linked above.

The file size is 110 MB (115,403,104 bytes), and it is available from our PS3 Debug Firmware section or download it linked below, however, unless you own a PS3 Debug/TEST console the most it will allow you to do is use XVISTAMAN2005's Install Debug Firmware on a Retail PS3 method to browse the non-functional menus.

Download: PS3 Debug Firmware v2.30 (USA) Update

More to come, another resident PS3 Dev hinted he plans to share something he has been working on here shortly...
