FEZ Turns Heads on PS4, PS3, and PlayStation Vita on March 25th

7w ago - Polytron Producer Marie-Christine Bourdua announced today that FEZ turns heads on PS4, PS3, and PlayStation Vita on March 25th, 2014.

Below are the details, to quote: This is it. We've come to the end of development, and Fez is finally coming to PlayStation on March 25th!

It's been an incredible adventure, and we couldn't have made it without the amazing work of BlitWorks and the support of Sony's team. In the name of all of us at Polytron, thank you so much!

People have been asking for a PS3 version of Fez since day one, and we believe it was worth the wait. Blit took the time to make a solid C++ port of the game, which runs smoothly at native resolution on PS Vita, and 720p at 60 frames per second on PS3.

The PS4 version is what we consider to be the best-looking and smoothest Fez experience you can get on a TV set, running at beautiful 1080p (and yes, 60fps too). You wouldn't think that upping the resolution would make a big difference in a game like ours, where the pixels are the size of Gomez's fist... but it really does look even crisper and blockier - in a good way.

No one's going to blame you for digging around, but you won't find many big changes in these versions of the game. However, there are a few surprises... especially...

Video: Sci-fi Adventure Forma 8 is Coming to PS4 and PS Vita

7w ago - MixedBag Cofounder Mauro Fanelli shared a video trailer today announcing that Sci-fi Adventure Forma 8 is coming to both PS4 and PS Vita platforms.

Below are the details, as follows: Hi! Italian indie studio MixedBag here again. Last Tuesday, we announced our crazy shoot 'em up Futuridium EP Deluxe, coming exclusively to PS Vita. Today, we're here to bring you more PlayStation love.

Our big project - the one we opened MixedBag for - is a game we always wanted to make. We're immensely proud (drumroll) to announce forma.8, coming to PS4 and PS Vita.

forma.8 is an action adventure game and our own personal take on the classic Metroidvania formula. We started working on forma.8 more than two years ago, beginning with a little gameplay concept centered on an experimental control system for touch devices. It evolved into an adventure of epic proportions.

In the distant future, a small exploration probe, forma.8, is stranded alone on the surface of an alien planet. It was parted from its companions by chance, and has a life or death mission to accomplish: it must find and recover a powerful energy source deep under the surface before it's too late. Ancient civilizations,...

Video: Fourth-Person Puzzler Pavilion is Coming to PS4 and PS Vita

7w ago - Visiontrick Media Co-founder and Creative Director Henrik Flink posted up a video today of their fourth-person puzzler Pavilion coming to PS4 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: During Tokyo Game Show last year, we (Henrik and Rickard), together with Sony Japan, announced that Pavilion would be coming to PS4 and PS Vita in 2014. Still, most people might not have heard that much about Pavilion, so we felt it was time to shed some light on the game.

"Pavilion, the fourth-person puzzling adventure from Visiontrick Media, throws you directly into its mysterious world without any text tutorials or beginning explanations. It is a puzzle game portrayed through exploration and audio-visual imagery. By interacting and observing you gradually, bit by bit, learn things about both the puzzling gameplay and the world itself."

Let's talk a little bit about the term "fourth-person," which is something we've used over the past year to describe the way you interact with the main character. Basically, the character is not your avatar and you are not in control of him.

Instead, you have to find different ways - mostly through environmental interaction - to guide, influence or even force him to explore and fulfill the purpose of the world. This indirect control is what we refer to when we say...

The Swapper is Coming to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita in May 2014

8w ago - Curve Studios PR and Marketing Manager Rob Clarke announced today that The Swapper is coming to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita in May 2014.

Below are the details, to quote: Our final PlayStation game announcement of the month is something I've wanted to talk about for a really long time. I'm now very happy to be able to tell you about our plans to bring the critically acclaimed puzzle-platformer, The Swapper, to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita this year.

The Swapper was released in 2013 on PC, and has had some amazing press coverage. It won numerous awards in the indie gaming scene for its story, graphics and puzzle design.

We're very lucky to be working with original developer Olli Harjola to bring the game to PlayStation formats, and the game is already looking beautiful on our PlayStation systems here at Curve towers, so we think you're in for a real treat.

The Swapper is set on Theseus, a damaged space station and research facility. It's a claustrophobic, dark, and atmospheric environment, but it's also very unique in style - there's no blocky pixel art and digital textures in this game, but instead handcrafted art and clay models designed by the original developers.

These real world props make up the many different environments in the game and provide The Swapper with an art...

Spry Fox Details Road Not Taken for PS4 and PlayStation Vita

8w ago - Spry Fox Chief Creative Officer Daniel Cook detailed Road Not Taken for PS4 and PlayStation Vita for fans today.

To quote: This post is about Road Not Taken, Spry Fox's upcoming roguelike for PS4 & PS Vita. If this is your first time hearing about RNT, check out our trailers here!

As we've mentioned in previous blog posts, Road Not Taken has procedurally-generated levels. That is, you get a completely new experience every time you venture into the forest.

When designing a game like Bioshock or God of War, a designer must hand-select the placement of every corridor, every object, and every enemy in the game.

With Road Not Taken, we're not hand-selecting anything. We spend our time creating interesting objects and enemies, and then carefully defining the probabilities of when and where you will encounter them.

The process reminds me of Duchamp's painting 'Nude descending a Staircase, No. 2'. For thousands of years, humanity painted a single instant, captured in time. Duchamp, inspired by advances in motion pictures, decided to paint all the possible states of a woman walking down the stairs in a single painting.

To me, designing a roguelike is...
