A game that makes you wonder 'who came up with this?'. Luckily, there is no shortage of weird and wonderful curios from the land of Japan.

And today we're pleased to bring you the next of our "subliminally strange but always pleasing" Japanese imports for the PSN section.

Rapid Angel will debut, today, 21st December, at the reasonable price of £3.99/€4.99.

Anime characters set the scene in this captivating action beat 'em up. Choose between three heroines, each with their own fighting style and personality. There is much nuanced charm and detail here.

The gameplay goes back to the old days of running, jumping and fighting, picking up gems and coins for points, and food to replenish your life. The graphics, meanwhile, are very stylish and well-crafted. This combination of side-scrolling fisticuffs and addictive platforming has something special for those with a subtle eye for Japanese ingenuity.

Attention to detail is a mark of every great game and...

Video: Dancing Dots: Take Rotastic for a Spin Tomorrow on PSN

103w ago - Dancing Dots Managing Director Martial Hesse-Dreville has shared a new video trailer today inviting fans to take Rotastic for a spin tomorrow on PSN.

To quote: This is Martial Hesse-Dreville from Dancing Dots, here to tell you about our game - Rotastic - arriving on PSN tomorrow!

Now, how to best sum up what Rotastic is all about... well - imagine a knight. Got it? Good. Now give him a rope with a hook. Ok? Very well... now swing that knight around 80 levels filled with jewels and gems to collect.

Sounds simple? Well, maybe then I should tell you about the hundreds of deadly traps, cannons, razor-sharp blades, crazy chickens, black holes, flying dragons, and killer bats... it won't be easy!

The whole idea behind Rotastic is simple: we wanted to provide tons of fun while using a very simple game mechanic, and I think it worked. Using just one button, you latch your grappling hook onto the nearest anchor point, many of which are scattered around each level.

This swings you around to propel your knight through the stage, catching gems while avoiding traps and dodging enemies. With 80 levels (including 10 exclusive new levels for PlayStation 3!) of increasing difficulty, you can be sure...

Video: Flex Your Lexicon in Page Chronica, Out Tuesday on PSN

50°
104w ago - Red Hare Studios Producer Wee Lit Koh has invited fans to flex their Lexicon in Page Chronica, which is out Tuesday on PSN with a video trailer below.

To quote: During the making of our game Page Chronica, a common question has been "Is this an edutainment game?" Whenever we hear that word, our bodies cringe and we adamantly deny the claim.

In the gaming industry, the term conjures memories of boring school educational games that would alienate the majority of our console gamers. So for a long period of time, we would refuse to admit that our game is such a thing.

However, we eventually lightened up to the notion. That is not to say that we have fully accepted the classification, but it is more of a matter of tweaking our perspectives. So to all the edutainment-haters out there, we're here to convince you to withhold judgment and give Page Chronica a try.

Page Chronica is not your average side-scrolling action-platformer. It is an action-oriented word-puzzle game that combines elements of action-platformers with the forming of words. Capture letters and form words of various lengths and complexity to gain the power to unleash a variety of Spells and Attacks. The stronger the words formed, the more powerful you will be.

Video: PS Vita Application T@G Launches Today on PSN

50°
105w ago - Bolser Digital Director Richard Carter has shared a video announcing that the PS Vita application T@G launches today on PSN.

To quote: Good news everyone - our free PS Vita app t@g will finally be available to download later today.

T@g is an augmented reality social graffiti application. You can create your very own t@gs using different fonts, fills and effects and go out and place them in the real world using the camera and GPS on the PSVita. You can also overt@g other players, advance through the ranks opening up new fonts and fills, and earn respect and kudos by following other t@ggers.

It's been a while since we started developing t@g - well before the PS Vita was really publicly known. So much so that our initial devices didn't even resemble the final product - no touch screens, battery, 3G or GPS. As you can imagine for such an application that is so dependent on all these features it did cause us a few difficulties on the way!

One of the most memorable moments was field testing on the local cricket pitch with two 100 meter extension cables leading back to the office. The developer was stood in the middle of the field with a Vita in one hand and a laptop perched on his knee testing...
