Video: Celsius Game Studios: Drifter is Coming to PS4 and PS Vita

12w ago - Celsius Game Studios Founder Colin Walsh announced today alongside a video that Drifter is coming to PS4 and PS Vita platforms with details below.

To quote: While growing up I was always fascinated by space exploration and I was especially fond of the many video games set in space such as Frontier, Starflight, and Privateer.

In fact, it's long been a dream of mine to take all of what I enjoyed about those sorts of games and try and create my own game in the genre. [Register or Login to view links] is that game, and now I'm happy to say that another dream of mine is being fulfilled now that Drifter is coming to PS4 and PS Vita.

A Massive Galaxy To Explore

Drifter is an open-world, sandbox, space trading game with a procedurally-generated galaxy 100,000 light years across, made up of tens of thousands of star systems to explore and features an original soundtrack by composer Danny Baranowsky.

In the game you take on the role of a spaceship captain attempting to eke out a living among the stars by trading goods between star systems, hunting pirates for bounties, mining asteroids for valuable ore, or even becoming a pirate yourself.

Video: Jamestown Plus is Coming to PlayStation 4 This Summer

12w ago - Final Form Games Co-Founder Mike Primo confirmed that Jamestown Plus is coming to PlayStation 4 this Summer with a fresh video trailer below.

To quote: After playing a round of Jamestown, it's probably not surprising to hear that Final Form Games is run by two brothers who grew up playing video games in the early 90's.

We spent our Summers plugging quarters into Street Fighter II in the arcades, and our Saturday mornings sitting on the couch, playing games together.

But as fond as those memories may be, many of the games that featured the word "co-op" on the box (or arcade cabinet) during that era were a real let-down for us.

Simultaneous play is not necessarily cooperative, and co-op has come a long way since arcade ruled the Earth. We're living in a post-Left 4 Dead, post-Rock Band world, and sometime in 2009, we decided to stop waiting for someone else to apply a few of the many design innovations of the past twenty years to the humble shoot-em-up genre.

To wit:

• For us, co-op was about pulling each other's fat out of the fire when all seemed lost, and celebrating the heartbreaking almost-made-it defeats just as much as the skin-of-our-teeth victories. A great...

Video: Alien Trap Games Announces Apotheon is Coming to PS4

50°
12w ago - Continuing with Sony's PS4 news flood, Alien Trap Games Designer Jesse McGibney announced today that Apotheon is coming to PlayStation 4 with a video of it in action below!

To quote: Looking back, making our upcoming action sidescroller Apotheon in the visage of ancient Greek pottery seemed like an obvious choice. Everything is already there.

The 2D perspective, the awesome narrative and setting possibilities, heroes fighting monsters and magical goat-men with no pants... All we really had to do was figure out how to make the art on those pots move around and make it into an interesting game.

That's taken the two of us almost three years now. But we're almost at the end of our long road, and we're super excited to announce our new partnership with PlayStation to help us out and bring our hard work to even more players, as Apotheon will be coming to PS4.

Here's a few things we think will make Apotheon a blast to play with DualShock 4 in hand.

The combat in Apotheon draws mainly from our collective background as multiplayer FPS gamers. We were never much for button-mashy or combo based fighters, which I think have a bit of a stranglehold on 2D action games (especially melee focused...

Video: Zachtronics Announces Ironclad Tactics is Coming to PS4

50°
12w ago - Zachtronics Creative Director Zach Barth announced today that Ironclad Tactics is coming to PlayStation 4 with a PS4 video below.

To quote: One of the problems with making a game about the American Civil War is that it's fairly boring, at least compared to other video game themes. However, I believe that we have solved that problem, through the addition of massive, steam-powered automatons designed for a single purpose: WAR!

Ironclad Tactics is a fast-paced, card-based tactics game set in the American Civil War... with robots! Although it's reminiscent of the tactics games and collectible card games that we're all familiar with, we've done a few things that make the game stand out:

• When it comes to games, I am not a patient person. One of my biggest frustrations with card and tactics games is waiting for my opponent to take their turn, especially when they're an AI. In Ironclad Tactics, this is not a problem, as the entire game is streamlined for 10-second, fixed-length turns taken by all players simultaneously, blending the best of turn-based and real-time gameplay.

• You can call me old fashioned, but one thing I don't understand are digital card games that require you to purchase individual cards. They're just ones and zeroes! They don't exist! In Ironclad...

Video: MagicalTimeBean Announces Escape Goat 2 is Coming to PS4

12w ago - MagicalTimeBean Developer Ian Stocker announced that Escape Goat 2 is coming to PS4 complete with a video trailer below!

To quote: I'm glad I didn't go with my original opening paragraph for this post. It just enumerated the reasons Escape Goat 2 sets itself apart from other puzzle platformers out there. I've shown the game to so many people that the shtick is burned in my mind. And ultimately, it's impossible to describe, because the fun of Escape Goat is intangible.

Danielle Riendeau from [Register or Login to view links] put it in the most flattering terms: "Escape Goat 2 made me feel brilliant."

Could an indie really ask for a better pull quote?

I will mention (with only the slightest bit of ego) that this is the first ever "Double Fine Presents" game. Though the myth of how "Tim Schafer's Escape Goat 2 came to be published by Double Fine on PC last March has reached the ends of the internet, I can take this opportunity to tell you the Real Story.

In early 2014, the goat's final development days were spent just down the hall from Double Fine Productions, who were thinking about getting into the publishing business (just don't call them a publisher).

Team Goatimus (myself,...
