Capcom Unveils a Real Bionic Arm from Japan

100°
280w ago - Capcom USA has unveiled their delivery of a real Bionic Arm from Japan. Check it out below, modeled by Capcom's resident babe Marisol.

To quote: Today, we got the Bionic Arm. It came in a crate with some mysterious Japanese writing (probably a warning of the pure awesome inside), and a dead give-a-way in english as it says "Bionic Arm" in big letters.

Marisol was kind enough to strap on this prop for some pics to show off how cool this thing is. It would have been cooler if I could have found the button for the lights. But there's no obvious switch on there that says "lights."

Instead I spent a good five minutes pressing things that looked like they could be buttons while it was sitting on my desk(I was guarding it from the droolers). As I was looking, I realized just how much detail went into this piece of equipment.

Every rivet, bolt, screw, the hosing... It's all hand painted down to the most minute detail. The arm is an exact match to the arm you'll be using when you pick up Bionic Commando.

282w ago - Per Microsoft's Major Nelson (linked above): Xbox.com and the Xbox forums will be offline for maintenance on Tuesday, November 18th from 12:01am PT until 4:00am PT to prepare for the New Xbox Experience launch on Wednesday the 19th.

This does NOT affect Xbox LIVE, which will remain available during this time.

Additionally, similar as was done for the PlayStation 3 recently, Microsoft will give Capcom its own "branded destination experience" tomorrow, to coincide with the launch of New Xbox Experience.

The hub will serve as a sort of one-stop shop for all things Street Fighter. Related add-ons and content, as well information on upcoming releases, will be accessible from one single destination.

Capcom Developer Interview on Resident Evil 5

100°
282w ago - Below is a recent interview with the very friendly Ben LeRougtel of Capcom, who enthusiatically answered some questions on Resident Evil 5 courtesy of XCN.

XCN: What makes a classic Resident Evil game?

BL: It's fear and tension. If you look at some of the enemies you encounter in Resident Evil games they're always grotesque and you're not sure what they're made up of - sometimes they're part human, sometimes they're complete abominations of nature. But Resident Evil 5 has moved away from that survival horror tag that was there in the beginning.

It has more of an action feel to it but still the tension is there and it's intensified with the addition of co-op. It's a very different experience - normally your Resident Evil mindset is "me, me, me!" and it's just about your survival. Now you've got to worry about someone else as well, and if the other person is only out for themselves it makes the game very hard to play.

The sections we've shown off so far haven't really touched on the co-op element of the game. You'll need to work together in order to survive.

XCN: But it's the same story whether you play alone with AI or with a live partner?

BL: Yeah, absolutely.

XCN:...

New Department at the PlayStation Store: The Capcom Storefront

50°
283w ago - Today Ro Hernandez of the PlayStation Store Team has expanded on what was reported a few weeks ago in our past news.

To quote: Hope you've been enjoying the beefy updates over the past couple weeks. If you have been a frequent visitor to PlayStation Store, you would have noticed the custom categories we created for Halloween and for the Siren: Blood Curse promotion.

This Thursday, we are releasing a custom category for Capcom. As you may know, Capcom has been a huge supporter of PlayStation Network, so we collaborated on a special storefront to coincide with the release of Age of Booty.

Within this "Capcom Store", you'll be able to browse through all Capcom digital content available from PlayStation Network. Once inside the Capcom category, you will notice that all their content is sorted by title. This allows you easy access to view all content related to a particular game. This includes all full game content, demo and promotional items (themes, wallpapers, etc).

Be sure to keep a look out for this new offering dropping this Thursday and some exclusive Capcom content headed to PlayStation Store in the future!

Peace,
Ro

Svensson: Trophy Support Planned for Future Capcom PS3 Titles

50°
285w ago - Capcom's Christian Svensson has stated that PlayStatiopn 3 trophies are unlikely to be added to current games released due to the cost.

However, according to him Capcom is planning trophy support for future titles.

To quote Sven: There are a few titles released by our US group that we'd like to go back and have trophy support added to, but the bids to do so were cost prohibitive (they'd never make it through a green light process if those costs stand). We've not entirely given up yet though, so you may still see something further down the line.

Because there's some uncertainty, I don't want to say whether you will or won't on what's on that list.

I will say that future titles are planning trophy support across the board on our US developed side and I believe the majority of our Japanese titles are also (I'm just hesitant to commit because I don't have a complete list in front of me).
