Speed up your PlayStation Network Downloads with Auto-Installs!

100°
308w ago - Tonight I was downloading some content I had been missing out on the last week due to band rehersals and some light work here and there...

Now normally I would've just background-downloaded all of my stuff and walked away from it until it was done - I'm glad I didn't.

A big complaint with the PSN is the fact when you download something of the store you then have to install it. This means the long process becomes longer...

Well, tonight I found out that if you que up all you want to download and individually download it from the store menu or your drop down download list, without doing a background download, it not only increased my speed from an average of 1MB every 4 seconds to 1MB every 1 second to 2 seconds, but it also pre-installs your content for you. So you don't have to go back out and manually do it from your PlayStation 3 XMB.

Now, I have a fast connection and I often average 1MB per second anyways, but a lot of times it's not a constant 1MB per second... Sometimes it drops down to where I am only getting 1mb every 3 to 4 seconds - With this method it was much faster than just putting them all on the background and letting it do it for me.

It might not be as convenient, but it sure went a lot faster. I got over 1.4GB of downloads in under 7 minutes flat...

Global Approval Process in the Works for PlayStation Network

50°
308w ago - Hate the long delays between game releases in America, Europe and Japan? Well, that may be over, according to a report by GameDaily.

A change in the game approval process means developers can submit to just one territory, and gain approval in all.

To quote: "Previously games had to be submitted separately through Sony Europe, Japan, and America. Now, the game idea is sent through a single website for approval."

Sony is hoping this will encourage even more developers to release their games on PlayStation Network.

They'll continue to tout the benefits of the PSN: it's free, doesn't require a publishing partner, and can be distributed around the world simultaneously. Will developers be able to refuse this kind of offer?

Burn Zombie Burn Announced for PlayStation Network in Q1 2009

50°
308w ago - Pinnacle Software and developer Doublesix are excited to announce the upcoming release of what will surely prove to be one of the most addictive and charismatic arcade shooters of 2009 - Burn Zombie Burn, available on PlayStationNetwork early Q1.

Press Release: GUILDFORD, ENGLAND, October 24th 2008 - You play Bruce - an average every-day Joe who was looking forward to some 'quality time' with his girlfriend Daisy. In true B-movie style their Saturday night is ruined by an invasion of zombies.

Set across six classic American horror movie inspired levels, Burn Zombie Burn is a third-person shoot-em-up in the classic coin-op tradition featuring next-gen game play mechanics, and possessing that 'one-more-go' addictiveness which define all of the great shooters.

The aim of the game couldn't be simpler; shoot, burn and blow up as many brain munching zombies as possible using a variety of classic zombie killing weapons before they overwhelm you. Use fire to build up your multiplier and then destroy zombies en masse with explosives to increase that oh-so-important leaderboard high score. But beware! A burning zombie is a faster zombie - burn too many and they will burn you!

Burn Zombie Burn is frantic, arcade gaming at its best, delivering humour and bloody zombie violence...

New DLC for High Velocity Bowling Arrives via PlayStation Network

50°
308w ago - Per Mike Skinner of Team RamRod via PS Blog today:

Hello everyone! Team RamRod is here again this week to introduce some new High Velocity Bowling (HVB) goodness. I know it's gonna be tough to compete with last week's release of the FREE HVB Online Play update in North America, but we have more great news for our fans here in the States.

To all our fans in Europe who are waiting for the online action and new content, please know that we are working as fast as we can to release it to you as well.

Anyone that has played HVB knows that it is filled with an eccentric mix of characters and bowling alleys. Joe and Jill might be your average family playing in a common setting, but it's not everyday you can mix it up on the lanes with a biker who wants to be a Viking.

Most of you know that HVB hasn't had any new faces in the neighborhood for quite a while, so without further delay, I am proud to introduce everyone to our newest bowlers, Foxy Powers and Chastity Falls!

Foxy Powers
Foxy Powers is a retro revolutionary, who hails from Oakland, California. She spends her time challenging one sucker after another in her cool, dark den. Foxy has a powerful shot with a good spin. Downloading Foxy also nets you her special ball, "The Revolution" and her new...
