Zombie Apocalypse Demo Hits PS3 Today via PlayStation Network

50°
253w ago - Today Nihilistic Software Community Manager and Designer Mark Cooke has announced that a Zombie Apocalypse demo is available for PS3 via Sony's PlayStation Network.

To quote: Today on PSN a shambling mass of rotting corpses have appeared and are threatening the safety of the human race on Earth.

You can do your part to fight back the zombie hordes in our new game, Zombie Apocalypse, developed by [Register or Login to view links] and published by [Register or Login to view links]. For $9.99 you'll shoot loads of zombies with one to four players fighting cooperatively in an online enabled zombie kill fest.

When Nihilistic first sat down and thought about creating a downloadable title, we immediately wanted to do it in the horror genre. We've got a lot of zombie and horror fans here. Not to mention some hardcore fans of old-school shooters. Combining the two felt logical and Zombie Apocalypse was born.

Thematic inspiration was drawn primarily from classic zombie films of the 70s and 80s. Two films in particular are ZOMBIE (aka Zombi 2) by Lucio Fulci, and Nightmare City by Umberto Lenzi. The first level in Zombie Apocalypse is set in an airport which is a homage to Nightmare City. If you haven't heard of either of these...

LittleBigPlanet GOTY Out Today, Meet the Special Guest Designers

250°
255w ago - SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine has announced that LittleBigPlanet GOTY (Game Of The Year) Edition arrives today, and has revealed some details of the special guest designers as follows:

For those who haven't jumped on the "Play, Create and Share" bandwagon yet, now is the time as the LittleBigPlanet Game of Year edition Game of Year edition is available NOW!

The new package includes everything from the original as well as seven free downloadable content packs, a PlayStation Network voucher code to download the upcoming ModNation Racers online beta AND 18 never-before-seen levels created by some extremely talented members of the community - all bonus content valued at more than $30!

So, how did these 18 consumers get to be part of a video game? Well, it wasn't random. Our team at Media Molecule handpicked them all after viewing the exceptional levels each fan had previously posted online.

Once identified, we contracted each person, with payment, of course, to create a new level that would be incorporated into the Game of the Year. So, all 18 people are now amateur video game developers for the PlayStation family.

One of these creators, David Dino, a 27 year-old Hospital Safety Coordinator from Azusa, CA, recently spoke with USAToday.com about his...
