Slime Roll v0.1 PS3 Homebrew Game is Now Available

To quote: Here is something "new" that I have been playing with. It's sort of a continuation of a browser based demo I made when HTML5 was the cool new thing and I was still messing around with JavaScript and an HTML5 canvas for the first time.

Currently there is some green stuff that falls down and you can rotate the world to make it fall in a different direction and in doing so you can get the green stuff to navigate the world. There is a built in level editor.

It is just a toy at the moment and a roughly constructed one at that. I will probably do a bit more work on it and make it into a game but I don't know when. I'm not really considering it a very high priority. If you think it's interesting and want to see it improved upon sooner rather then later then let me know.

PS3 controls:

  • Left analog stick = Move the camera
  • L1 and R1 = rotate the camera and the direction of gravity
  • L2 and R2 = zoom the camera in and out
  • X (in the editor) spawn a wall (hold and drag to scale)

1250°
157w ago - Following up on the initial PS3 Slim 3.70 Downgrade and PS3 3.7x Downgrade for Slims and Fats with NOR Flash news, this weekend Italian PlayStation 3 hackers DiGiTaLAnGeL (linked above) have made available a guide to fast swap PS3 Slim CFW 3.55 to OFW 3.70 with 2 HDDs and ProgSkeet followed by a New Method - PS3 Downgrade v2 Supports all NOR Flash from TwoStone.

To quote, roughly translated: Today I'll write a tutorial to "fast-swap" between CFW 3.55 and OFW 3.70, using 2 HDDs... at the end of the tutorial, you'll be able to swap between the firmware just flashing a dump on your PS3 using Progskeet. (instead of downgrading and losing all data).

The first steps are not so easy, so take your time and go on, by the way, you must have some skill with Progskeet, and it must be 100% working...

350°
157w ago - This weekend French PlayStation 3 developer dudu.clx has shared a PS3A Linux Box v1 PS3 Install Script for OtherOS++ CFW users and some videos documenting the process below.

To quote, roughly translated: To make installing Linux on PS3 simpler and faster, I decided to create the PS3A linux-box . Run the script, and off you go!

The linux installer for PS3 OtherOS++ consists of a series of scripts that will run from petitboot once otheros + + partitions created correctly (success create_hdd_region.sh). It will be regularly updated to correct, improve some support and offer still more versions of Linux.

Requirements for PS3a Linux-box (roughly translated):

  • Have a PS3 with a CFW OtherOS++
  • Having set the hard disk
  • Restart the PS3 petitboot.

Video: Rebug PS3 CFW 100% Booting Debug on a Retail PS3 Unit

650°
157w ago - What started out several months ago as a PS3 Retail to Debug WIP Project is slowly nearing completion, with GaryOPA receiving word from PlayStation 3 hacker Cyberskunk alongside a video of Rebug PS3 CFW 100% booting in Debug mode on a Retail PS3 console.

To quote: In this video you can see the PS3 first booting and then BEEPING. This is normal, if someone installs an full official DEBUG PUP via Service Mode on a Retail Console.

Next you see Cyber booting on his PS3 using a USB Jailbreak Dongle! This time the PS3 boots-up and is a fully 100% DEBUG firmware, no crashing or beeping, loads right into the XMB!

This is all possible by the Codename: REBUG team developing their own "custom payload" loaded for usage on the old v3.41 Jailbreak dongles!

From Cyberskunk: Hey Gary, The vid we sent you uses a dongle to boot the DEX COREOS on retail console as we thought that to be more conclusive since you can mimic the DEX XMB quite easily..

We can however boot it without the dongle but before everyone gets excited being able to boot the DEX COREOS and getting all of its functions up and running without rehashing (converting) your console are two completely...
