Sony Announces 2TB Memory Stick XC Specifications

272w ago - It appears Sony has finalized specifications of their new Memory Stick XC line, which includes: Memory Stick XC Duo, Memory Stick XC-HG Duo, Memory Stick XC Micro (M2 XC) and Memory Stick XC-HG Micro (M2 XC-HG).

Sony's Memory Stick XC keeps the current form factor for memory sticks (likely backwards compatible) with the XC series (XC Duo, XC-HG Duo, XC Micro (M2 XC), XC-HG Micro (M2 XC-HG)) using the exFAT file system, and the PRO series (including the PRO Duo, PRO-HG Duo, Micro (M2), HG Micro (M2-HG)) using the tried and true FAT12/16/32.

Capcom Announces Resident Evil 5 Ships September 15th to PC

275w ago - Today, Capcom announced that North American PC gamers will be able to get their hands on Resident Evil 5 on September 15th.

European PC owners will have to wait three extra days, or September 18th, to get their hands on the game.

To quote: The PC version will have a couple of additional things from the console versions – chiefly, stereoscopic 3D, as well as new costumes and "new and improved" mercenary mode that boasts three times as many enemies.

Capcom promised that "more details" will be available on the PC version of RE5 in the coming months.
 

Atlus Announces Demon's Souls Release Date, Pre-Order Bonuses

277w ago - Atlus has announced both the North American release date and the pre-order bonuses for their first PlayStation 3 title, Demon's Souls.

The game is an open-ended fantasy action RPG that allows the player to create their own character and face off against monsters, making use of a plethora of various weapons, which alter the gameplay.

In addition to a standard version of the game, which includes a new boxart exclusive to the North American release, a deluxe version will also be available, which will include a 150+ page strategy guide (not available for retail) and a collectible outer slipcase. Players who pre-order either version, will also receive an art book featuring designs and concept sketches.

To quote: "Atlus Spoils is all about giving back to our fans and thanking them for their support, and we're excited to be able to do something very special for Demon's Souls," stated Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Atlus.

"On October 6th, PlayStation 3 system owners will be treated to the definitive release of what many consider to be the most innovative action RPG in recent memory.

Ballmer Announces 2010 XBox 360 at The Executive Club Chicago

279w ago - Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer spoke at The Executive's Club of Chicago today, discussing "the role of innovation in changing economic times."

During his speech he addressed many economic issues, and touched on the importance of innovation. However, it was his Xbox announcement which has people excited.

To quote: Rumors can be confirmed, as Ballmer stated openly during a speech on the recession to those in attendance at the Executives Club in Chicago, a new Xbox 360 will hit the store shelves in 2010.

The new device will be equipped with technology that is "really, really, close" to an actuality. The console, which was described as having a "natural interface," will have a built in camera with the ability to recognize movement and voice.

With no official release, those were all of the details that were shared.
 

Sony Announces Improvements for PlayStation Network Store

281w ago - Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) have announced that they will be making many improvements to the PlayStation Network Store.

They stated they will be improving the digital quality of the games that are soon to be arriving on the store, to quote:

For the few years the store has been online, it has been in a huge competition with the 360's version of PSN, XBLA.

Items for the PSP like songs will be better quality when downloaded from your PC. The PSN Store sees games such as Fat Princess coming soon and with a huge range of PS one originals also on their way, Sony are putting their all into the PlayStation for the moment.

Despite having over 200 full games already on the network, Sony are planning to expand that to around 300 by the end of the year.

It is also rumored that Sony have secured exclusivity for DLC content for upcoming games. Xbox Live needs to watch their backs for the moment.
