Video: Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.3: Defenders of Eorzea Now Live

50°
6w ago - Square Enix Community Project Manager Hergen Thaens shared a video today spotlighting the Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.3 announcing Defenders of Eorzea is now live!

To quote: Good morning, everyone! Every few months, something magical happens here at Square Enix.

While we're watching all of you adventurers, fighting your way through Eorzea, we think to ourselves "We should give them more. We can give them more. It's been three months already!" - and then, in a secret and mysterious ceremony, High Priest of the Code Yoshida-san gets the dev team together, places a development PC in a magic circle, together with some Final Fantasy artifacts, energy drinks and fast food, and, using ancient magic, summons forth a mighty content update!

Well, ok. There may be a lot more actual work and a bit less actual magic involved. But that doesn't change the fact that as you are reading this, the update has just been applied to the servers! Also, I'd really love to see the scene described above in art form - any artists reading this?

What do you mean, you don't know what this update adds to the game? We can't have that. Watch the 2.3 trailer right here, right now, and then tell me you're not looking forward to joining in!

Video: The Origin of Titan Souls on PS4 and PlayStation Vita

7w ago - Acidnerve's Mark Foster shared a video trailer today showcasing the origin of Titan Souls on PS4 and PlayStation Vita with details below.

To quote: Armed with a single, indestructible arrow, Titan Souls on PS4 and PS Vita drops you into the midst of a desolate world you have no knowledge of.

Exploration will soon reveal the hiding places of the Titans that reside here, and it's your job to take them down.

Tense, punishing boss battles are a love of ours that we think a lot of gamers share. These kind of battles are the very core of the gameplay in Titan Souls. There are no health bars - a single strike will end your life, and a single hit to a Titan's weak spot is all you'll need to pull off a kill.

It's not as simple as it sounds, however - each Titan is completely unique, with its own threatening move set and its own hidden weakness to be exposed. It's a challenging game, and we're not going to help you out with any overt tutorials or prompts either - you'll need to observe carefully and figure things out for yourself. Whilst simultaneously managing to survive. Maybe we're just horrible people.

The idea was born out of a Ludum Dare jam game of the same name that we made in a weekend...

Video: How to Pair DualShock 4 Controller with PS3 to Work Wirelessly

300°
7w ago - Today YouTube user SuperOriginalA made available a video on how to pair a DualShock 4 Controller with the PS3 to work wirelessly with details below.

To quote: The DualShock 4 Can Now Be Used Wirelessly On PS3

The PS4's controller has been compatible with the PS3 since launch, though only if it was connected through a USB wire. However it now appears one of the recent updates allows for you to connect the controller and use it wirelessly.

I just came across a tip on Reddit (reddit.com/r/PS3/comments/29jpiv/ds4_is_now_supported_wirelessly_after_recent_ps3/) now, and had to try it out for myself, though the console doesn't actually recognize the controller as an official Sony one. The step by step guide is as follows:

  • Connect DS4 with wire to PS3 then turn on.
  • Go to Accessory settings.
  • Select Manage Bluetooth Devices, and start scanning for device.
  • Unplug DS4
  • While scanning hold the PS & Share buttons on the DS4.
  • When the light flashes quickly on DS4 plug back in and select Wireless Controller.
  • Let registration complete and then unplug.

This isn't full recognition and as a result things like the PS button, as well...

Video: Escape Dead Island PS3 is Coming to PlayStation 3

50°
7w ago - Deep Silver Senior Narrative Producer Alexander Toplansky shared a PS3 video trailer today announcing that Escape Dead Island is coming to PlayStation 3.

To quote: We're pleased to announce that Escape Dead Island is coming to PS3, a whole new survival-mystery game with a fresh perspective on the Dead Island universe.

Escape represents a crucial bridge between the events of Dead Island and Dead Island 2, and will finally reveal the origins of the virus, even some tantalizing clues where the events are going to lead... but it's going to be up to you to decide what to believe. That's because this story-driven, single-player game is played through the eyes of Cliff Calo, who's watching his world unravel.

Cliff is the spoiled son of a powerful media mogul who has stolen a yacht with his friends determined to film the documentary of the century: exposing the truth about the Banoi outbreak to the public. Their plan: infiltrate the archipelago's top-secret quarantined island of Narapela and document everything.

Players will freely explore this all-new island, sneaking to avoid undead that can hear and smell you. But even this island full of zombies isn't what it appears to be on the surface.
