Video: Meet Mark Cerny: PS4 System Architect and Knack Creator

50°
70w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton posted up a video today introducing PlayStation 4 fans to Mark Cerny, a PS4 System Architect, Knack creator and one of the busiest men in gaming!

He also discussed the "Road to the PS4" live at Gamelab 2013 with a video [Register or Login to view links] for those interested.

To quote: For most mortals, designing a brand new cutting edge gaming system from the ground up would be a full time job, and then some.

However, for none-more-diligent PS4 system architect Mark Cerny, that wasn't quite enough responsibility, so he set about crafting a launch title for the new platform at the same time.

Said title, Knack, is a lovely counterpoint to the bulging biceps of Killzone: Shadow Fall and the steely realism of #DRIVECLUB.

Harking back to classic action platformers of yore, such as Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter and so on, it's a bold, bright and hugely enjoyable romp that injects the PS4 launch line-up with a pleasing splash of color.

The day after the physical form of PS4 was finally unveiled at E3, I sat down with the hardest working man in the business to find out more about his twin endeavors.

PS3 System Software Update 4.45 Released, Mass Bricking Reports

750°
71w ago - Following up on PS3 Firmware 4.41, today Sony has released PS3 System Software update 4.45 followed by reports of mass-bricking (with PSN temporarily closed via Error 8002A308) so currently it is advised NOT to install it.

Beware as it is causing a lot of consoles (mine included) to brick! There seems to be a glitch (pictured below) with a lot of users updating to that firmware and getting freezes after restarting. For those curious, the new update is supposed to allow users to 'opt-out' of the pop-up messages that you earned a trophy while playing a game.

Some reports indicate that this primarily affects those with 500+ GB hard drives, however, it is advised not to update to 4.45 until Sony remedies the issue. Currently they have rolled back to Firmware 4.41 meaning when you boot up your PS3 you will no longer be prompted to download the 4.45 update.

Below are the details, roughly translated: UPDATE 3: Warning, this update if it is best installed first previous... I copy and paste the post of Estwald because of what you put on I have nothing more to add... Estwald wrote:

First of all, Miralatijera me that if they "saw" made public the Core in its name and the rest is of my own by collaborating

On the other hand, the uniqueness of this, is that just your CFW offers the ability to launch applications in the background and these things, show that when the CFW provide useful ideas and instead locked away, are offered the possibility the dev, they can do things and are more likely to do so. In contrast, others, think that by taking out a CFW automatically have to give support... it will be no [poraki]

You try hard enough and you provide the info or you worry your porting (I mean Iris Manager), as did Miralatijera (in 4.31 gave us all the information he could and at 4.40, made the...
