6w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared details today on the upcoming PS4 System Software update 1.50 below that includes browser functionality, which will coincide with the North American PlayStation 4 launch day!
To quote: We wanted to shed some light on system software update version 1.50 for PS4, which will launch simultaneously with the system's official North American launch on November 15th, 2013. By updating to system software version 1.50, you'll be able to experience a variety of new features in addition to the basic functions of PS4.
The system software update 1.50 is approximately 300 MB, and will include the following features:
Users will be able to access PS4 titles displayed on their living room TVs and play them on a PS Vita system over Wi-Fi networks by using PS4 Link (Depending on network environment or titles, remote play performance may vary outside of the home).
We anticipate that most PS4 titles will be playable on the PS Vita system through Remote Play. The latest PS Vita system software version, to be released soon, will be required to use PS4 Link.
Users can use the PS4 Link application for the PS Vita system, and PlayStation App for iPhone, iPad, and Android-based...
6w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill went hands-on today with The Witness on PlayStation 4 with a fresh PS4 video trailer below, as follows:
Shortly after I heard the phrase "PlayStation 4" for the very first time, I received a blog post, a batch of screenshots and a trailer for a game called The Witness, from legendary game designer, Jonathan Blow. This was my first exposure to the impending next generation of video games.
My excitement for The Witness may, admittedly, be amplified by my sentimental nature (it is the first PS4 game I ever laid eyes on, after all). After getting a chance to play it at an event last week, however, I'm relieved to know that my excitement is justified.
Jonathan Blow helped to bring mainstream attention to the indie game development movement with his modern classic, Braid, which famously twisted the minds of gamers worldwide into knots. As such, it should be expected that the challenges you'll face in The Witness will put your mental capacity to the test.
Thankfully, you won't jump straight into the mind-numbing brain-twisters - The Witness is designed in such a way that you'll be gradually introduced...
6w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements went hands-on today with NBA 2K14 on PlayStation 4 complete with a PS4 video below.
To quote: The dedicated team behind the next-gen edition of NBA 2K14 has an eye for detail. And not just a normal, everyday eye; they have hundreds of eyes, hell-bent on making this the best basketball experience in video game history.
Their passion just about bled onto the floor of a crowded San Francisco bar earlier this week as they presented NBA 2K14 running on PS4. It was easy to see, from the first trailer to the final multiplayer tease, that NBA 2K14 is visually arresting, and damn fun to play.
As the footage of NBA 2K14 looped over the massive bar displays, the team were insistent that the PS4 version was not a simple port job. It was built from the ground up for next-gen tech, and they made their point by announcing the brand new engine powering the action: Ecomotion.
The art assets in NBA 2K14 have been built from scratch - not a single legacy piece of art remains from the current-gen version. As Studio Art Director Anton Dawson said at the demonstration, making this look like a real, next-gen basketball game came down to "thousands of little things, and the interconnectedness of those thousands of little things."
6w ago - WB Games Montreal Narrative Designer Ryan Galletta announced today via Sony's Blog that Batman: Arkham Origins is officially out tomorrow on PS3!
To quote: This year, Christmas comes on October 25th when Batman: Arkham Origins launches on PS3. Just like the night before Christmas, the team at WB Games Montreal is staying up late, anxious and excited to see what the morning will bring.
Over the last two years, this team has worked incredibly hard, giving much of their lives to ensure that we honor the name "Batman."
We can't wait to show off our boss fights. In particular, Bane and Deathstroke are going to test your limits in brutal contest. We think Copperhead will come out of Arkham Origins as one of the coolest interpretations of the character.
And the team would be sadly disappointed for anyone who misses out on the Mad Hatter Most Wanted mission. Setting aside how beautiful the rest of the game looks, the art team went a little crazy there, and Peter MacNicol really knocks it out of the park as a very mad Hatter.
All in all, there's a massive playground for you to explore, and the team has made sure that there's a reason to visit every corner of it.
Batman's pain and anger will be channeled straight to the hairs on the back of your neck, thanks...
