To quote from the included readme file:

• Just copy the files to the memory stick root, disconnect USB and go to photo menu.
• Don't dismiss the exploit even if it doesn't work on the first time, it's *very* unstable.
• You might get it working on the first time, but you might as well have to try it 20 times!

The h.bin is loaded to 0x08800000, and the text address of paf.prx is passed in $a0 to the binary code. You can then trick out function imports, like for example sceDisplayWaitVblankStart:

sceDisplayWaitVblankStart = (void*)(paf_addr+0x15F068);

Instructions:

1. Copy either slim.tiff or phat.tiff to /PSP/PHOTO/ folder on the memory stick, depending on your PSP model. Do NOT copy both!

2. Copy h.bin to the root...

To quote, from the included ReadMe file: Hello World for PSP firmware 5.03

The days of TIFF based exploits aren't long gone, at least not yet
Here's the third TIFF exploit for the PSP, enjoy.

Just copy the files to the memory stick root, disconnect USB and go to photo menu. Don't dismiss the exploit even if it doesn't work on the first time, it's *very* unstable. You might get it working on the first time, but you might as well have to try it 20 times!

The h.bin is loaded to 0x08800000, and the text address of paf.prx is passed in $a0 to the binary code. You can then trick out function imports, like for example sceDisplayWaitVblankStart:

sceDisplayWaitVblankStart = (void*)(paf_addr+0x15F068);

This release works _only_ on fat PSPs. The slim version will come out later.

I'm not gonna include a list of credits here, I'll just forget some important names and...

300w ago - Sony PSP hacker Dark_AleX has updated his M33 Custom Firmware today to M33-6. This update addresses a Memory Stick issue, and the included fat_comparison.html compares the speed of each driver.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] [Mirror]

Changes in 5.00 M33-6:

- Fixed a bug that made unbootable psp without memory stick or with a bad one.

The included file fat_comparison.html contains a comparison of perfomance between the 5.00 fat driver, the 3.71 one, and the 5.00 one with the speed up hack during the read of an iso.

The test was done on the game Valkyrie Profile in cso format in march33 mode. Other games, modes and applications different than iso reading showed similar results.

Instructions: Copy UPDATE folder /PSP/GAME/ and run.

If you come from a version prior to 5.00 M33, put sony update as 500.PBP in same folder, or let the program download it for you using a wifi connection.

PSP Firmware Update 5.03 Released, Patches GripShift Hole!

50°
300w ago - Sony's Director of PlayStation Network Operations Eric Lempel has announced the following today:

Hi, everyone, I wanted to give you a quick heads up that a new PSP firmware update, v5.03, will be released soon. This is a small update that improves system software stability during use of some features.

Although he didn't specify it, as expected the PSP update also patches the user mode exploit hole found in GripShift [Register or Login to view links].

That being said, do not update if you have a TA-088 v3 motherboard on your PSP-2000 Slim or if you have a PSP-3000 and wish to run homebrew code. Sony has now added a check that automatically detects the savedata as corrupt, and will refuse to display it on the list of available saves.

Video: PSP Debug Firmware Running on a Retail PSP Console

500°
301w ago - Well there is not much information yet pertaining to how this was done, but video proof has been provided as can be seen below courtesy of 0JOhnJAck0.

Now what is the significance of this you may ask. First off, I think its pretty obvious that this could not be done before. So this demonstrates just how far devs have gone with their knowledge of the PSP.

Of course one cannot help but to wonder if this will lead to any discoveries on Sony's other gaming device, the PS3.

Until more information about how exactly this was achieved on the PSP is released, we can only hope that it may assist in getting PS3 debug firmware running on the retail PS3.
