PS3Load GNPDRM PKG Now Updated for PS3 3.55 with Bug Fixes

154w ago - Following up on the earlier releases, today PlayStation 3 developer an0nymous has updated PS3Load which allows users to run PS3 SELF programs via wireless or wired network with some make_self bug fixes as outlined below.

Older versions of ps3load would not work on 3.50/3.55 ("sysProcessExitSpawn2" won't work proper), and you had to use 3.41 instead. This is no longer an issue with the recent version ps3load which fixed the (make_self) issue for 3.55 standalone precompiled version to try: ps3load.gnpdrm.pkg (don't forget to delete your old version first)

Using ps3load:

1. make your app, produce at least an ELF
2. sprxlinker yourapp.elf (this should be done for you if you use any of the samples)
3. make_self yourapp.elf yourapp.self
4. load ps3load on the PS3
5. define the PS3LOAD environment variable in your favorite shell with tcp:ip_addr (where ip_addr is your the ip address of your PS3)
6. ps3load yourapp.self
 

They Do Not Die 2 v0.6 PS3 Homebrew Game PKG is Released

154w ago - This weekend PlayStation 3 developer ThatOtherDev has updated his ongoing PS3 homebrew PKG game to They Do Not Die 2 version 0.6 with the changes detailed below.

To quote: Here is another updated version of They Do Not Die 2. Not a lot has changed but there is now a Wii version.

Notable changes:

  • Added on screen text showing the highest number of zombies you have ever killed before dieing (if you pass that high score then the new number will get saved when you die).
  • You can now play with up to four people (it was previously limited to two).
  • The position and size of the health and energy bars during multiplayer has changed.
  • There are now four different kinds of wooden crates (the differences are only cosmetic).
  • Menu text is larger and the title looks better.
  • Game saving and loading is even faster.

  • Left analog stick = Move
  • Right analog stick = Aim

Standalone Prince of Persia PS3 PKG File for Custom Firmware Out

155w ago - Today NEO117 has made available a standalone Prince of Persia PS3 PKG and homebrew files to run the 1989 game on PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware without the use of an SNES emulator along with Street Rod and Street Rod 2 and more updates below.

I have tested it and can confirm that it works 100%. Give it a go as its a great game and runs completely smooth.

I had added corpses and blood but I’ve removed them because I don’t know how to make them fade away progressively and I find it extremely distracting seeing them just disappear instantly (for performance reasons there needs to be a limit on how many can exist at any given time).

If anyone knows how to go about doing that I would greatly appreciate an example of it. Basically what I’m looking for is the PSL1GHT equivalent of glColor4f. I assume the answer involves shaders which I am sadly fairly ignorant about making and using.

Notable changes:

  • Added two player co-op play (shared screen).
  • There are now cars and boxes scattered around the city.
  • Data is stored more efficiently in game saves and as a result of that saving and loading is faster.
  • The shotgun is more powerful.

PS3 controls:
