Speculation: New PS3 Game Coming at the Tokyo Game Show?

250°
267w ago - As the Tokyo Game Show nears its opening for this year, Sony Japan appears to be teasing Internet users with a mysterious site which is believed to be related to be a PS3 game.

The [Register or Login to view links] has a pixelated smiley face at the bottom-right corner (pictured below) that leads you to various Japanese Web sites after being clicked multiple times.

While the Web sites you a led to are still of unknown purpose, we should be able to find the answer to these teasers at TGS on September 17th, 2009.

To quote: "There is not much on the teaser page other than a strange smiley face. Clicking on it multiple times will open his mouth. He will eventually let out a scream and you will be redirected to random web sites that might somehow be connected to the game.

It looks like the project will be revealed on September 17th."

Rumor: PS3 250GB Bundles Coming, Pricing and Details Available

200°
267w ago - A few weeks back we broke the news of the PS3 250GB Slim model CECH-2000B being uncovered at the FCC Site.

Today Eurogamer (linked above) reports that a 'trusted retail source' let them know it will indeed arrive as early as October, as part of three console-plus-game bundles.

To quote: "Unlike Spain, the UK will combine either Assassin's Creed II, Gran Turismo 5 or Uncharted 2 with the 250GB PS3 Slim. And each bundle will cost £299.99.

Sony has not backed this up in writing, which is why our source wished to remain anonymous.

Although the bundle will arrive in October, perhaps only Uncharted II - released on 23rd October - will appear then. Assassin's Creed is due on 20th Novmember, and Sony has only officially narrowed the date for GT5 to Q4 2009."

Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 Demo Confirmed, Coming Soon

100°
267w ago - As the FIFA 10 demo is hitting PSN and Xbox Live this week, now a demo for the new Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 game has been confirmed by Konami's European PES Team Leader Jon Murphy in a recent [Register or Login to view links] entry, to quote:

"Not long to go now until we release a demo for everyone to test. You'll get a chance to see the new PES for yourselves and make up your minds about how we've reflected what the fans want."

No other word on a release date but it will most likely be released within the next three weeks. From what we've seen, the game will be brilliant. PES 2010 will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 22.

PlayStation 2 and PSP versions will both be released a later date of November 19.

Video: PS3's New 3D Mode, Coming in 2010 to All Existing Games

650°
268w ago - Today Engadget (linked above) was able to test out Wipeout HD on Sony's PlayStation 3 being played in 3D, and managed to record a video of it below.

To quote: "Especially for something like Wipeout HD, whose neon-infused tracks make for an almost too convenient example of rapidly approaching vanishing points, we'd say 3D could really be a quasi-"killer app" for consoles going forward - especially if those fancy new motion controllers don't catch on for Microsoft and Sony.

In many ways, 3D just seems to make more sense in a video game than for a movie, and the whole problem of finding content to deliver in the format has already been solved: a software update for the PS3 sometime in 2010 will enable it to provide a 3D viewing experience to "all" existing games on the system.

We're sure there will be some exceptions, but it sounds very promising. The console itself pumps out a quite regular signal over HDMI, which the TV syncs up with your 3D glasses. A 200Hz TV, for instance, alternates 1080p frames, with 100Hz for each eye.

Of course, you'll need a brand new TV, but at least it won't be restricted to just Sony televisions."
