Shadows of the Damned: A New Vision of Hell Hits PS3 Today

100°
174w ago - Electronic Arts Senior Producer Steve Matulac has announced that Shadows of the Damned: A New Vision of Hell hits PS3 today.

To quote: In my 20 years in the industry, I have never had an experience like the one working on Shadows of the Damned.

First off, I spent the majority of last year living in Japan and onsite with the developer; Suda51 and [Register or Login to view links]. It was a great experience living in Tokyo and working alongside the great team at Grasshopper Manufacture.

The concept of light and dark as a metaphor for good and evil is an old one, but the Light and Dark gameplay in Shadows of the Damned takes it to a whole new level. It is less literal, but rather metaphorical, in the pain and torment that is caused to our hero.

As for gameplay, the player should not take the approach of "shoot anything that moves". Each environment and enemy will require a thoughtful approach in order to progress. Usually, darkness is lethal to the player, but sometimes may be required in order to expose an enemy's weakness.

Each situation is different and the player must build upon the earlier concepts encountered in order to defeat the tougher enemies deeper in the game. Shadows of the Damned is the thinking...

50°
176w ago - Today Brian Fleming at Sucker Punch Productions has announced that InFamous 2 on PS3 officially launches today, and now available is the launch video trailer and a clip from Kevin Butler.

To quote: Well, it's finally here... Launch day!

Two-plus years, eighty thousand individual checkins of art and code, countless hours of testing, and it all builds towards today! At long last we turn over the keys to you.

It's your game now... Whether you're someone who plays the game on easy and wants to see how the endings differ, or a borderline crazy completionist who needs to get every last blast shard and every last XP possible.

Or maybe you want to contribute your own pages to the story and create some missions for the whole community (including us at [Register or Login to view links]!) to play and enjoy...

Whichever you are, it's your game now. We hope you enjoy the game a bunch, and look forward to hearing from you all about your inFAMOUS 2 experience!

And it wouldn't be a launch without posting without a quick peek at the new launch trailer, and of course the TV spot that you'll see popping up all over the place!

Sony Announces Scheduled Maintenance Today, No PSN Update

250°
178w ago - Today Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has announced news of scheduled PlayStation Network maintenance and confirmed that there will be no PSN Store update today as well.

To quote: PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo maintenance today, from about 8am until approximately 5pm Pacific time. During this time, registration and Account Management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process.

While some users may experience difficulty signing in to PSN, the majority of consumers will be able to play online as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one).

For those asking about the PlayStation Store, we're still targeting restoration of all services by the end of this month. Contrary to reports, the Store will not be publishing today.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Video: MotorStorm Apocalypse PS3 DLC Launches Today on PSN

50°
184w ago - Evolution Studios Games Director Matt Southern has posted up a video announcing that MotorStorm Apocalypse PS3 DLC launches today on PSN.

To quote: The timing of MotorStorm Apocalypse hasn't exactly been ideal.

I remember waking on the morning of the Friday, near the end of what was already a pretty heavy week gearing up for European release, switching on the news and being stunned. My first thought wasn't for the game, but for our Japanese Producer and his family.

Just a short while after the devastation he emailed me to apologise for having to suspend the ongoing tests for MotorStorm! That sums him up, and his fellow countrymen - courageous, unflappable and so gracious, even in the face of such tragedy. It really put everything into perspective. We did the right thing when we decided to delay it.

Now that we're available in Europe (and soon to be released in the US), it's time to make good on our promises to everyone already playing the game and start unveiling some of our add-ons. I hate calling it 'DLC'; it makes it sound like a spreadsheet template or something.

First-up, you've got two weeks from today to pick up the ultimate 'Stormer status symbol: the Supercar...
