Guide: How to Create Your Own PS3 Themes for PlayStation 3

50°
208w ago - SCEE Online Designer Wael Naguib has shared a guide today on how to create your own PS3 Themes for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: I am one of the Online Designers here at PlayStation Europe and I am here to talk to you about how to create your very own PS3 custom themes. Here is the PS3 Custom Theme Tool download.

I have created several custom themes available on PlayStation Store - you may be familiar with themes such as Manga, Graffiti and Rag-doll Kung-fu. The Manga and Graffiti themes were created on a PC and are based on my creative interests in urban street art, Japanese anime and Manga comics.

Coming up with theme ideas is really fun and can be challenging; I've discovered it's always good to start your ideas by thinking of a good background image before you begin work on the icons. A character, scene or texture is a good starting point to begin with and that will help you ensure your icons will fit with the chosen background.

If you like to keep things simple you can use the icons provided with the theme kit and edit them however you like e.g. change the colour of the icons or maybe add some shadow behind.

Video: Sony Introduces MUBI - Your Own PS3 Online Cinema!

350°
219w ago - Today Founder & CEO Efe Cakarel has unveiled MUBI for Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment system, which allows users to essentially turn their PS3 console into an online cinema!

To quote: We are [Register or Login to view links]. Do you know who Kubrick is? What about Antonioni? David Lynch? Ring any bells?

Well, we are MUBI and we are basically transforming your PS3 console into your own online cinema. (You can still play games and all that, don't worry!)

We couldn't resist the idea of everyone having their own exquisite film library–And that's it in a nutshell.

But lets get this straight, we are not just an online cinema and we are not just some tech and film geeks in California–well, some of us are, yes–but we are 300,000 friends talking, discovering, and sharing films with one another every day.

In fact, every 2 minutes there's someone joining us. Yes. 2 minutes. Sorry to get a bit geeky (we warned you!), but that's 700 people joining each day. Not bad... but joining what?

The truth is, we can't even start explaining. But let's try this: At the moment, some of us are at the Cannes Film Festival announcing a major collaboration with SCEE for PS3. So, soon, you will find a new application on your console, which will let you...

221w ago - UFG Game Designer William Ho has shared a video today dubbed ModNation Racers PS3 - Your Racing Career Begins Now!

To quote: Today, I'm going to reveal some details about the single-player Career Mode in ModNation Racers.

You are Tag, a young graffiti artist turned kart racer who enters the Mod Racing Championship (MRC for short). Tag starts off as a rookie in the Home Tour.

As he wins races, he unlocks more rewards and qualifies for higher-level tours that take him to exotic races all over [Register or Login to view links]. Along the way, you're pitted against the MRC's Elite Racers. Each Elite has his or her unique visual style and driving style suited to their respective home tracks.

The Career Mode is both simple and deep. It's simple in that you can blaze your way to the top of the MRC rankings by placing third or better in most races. We also have "Big Show" races – the finales for each Tour – that require you to finish in first place to qualify for the next Tour. Racking up top finishes also gets you lots of unlocks. You'll win plenty of parts, stickers, bodies, buildings, props and more to use in your custom creations.

But for more dedicated racers, we've also added...
