236w ago - Today EA Sports' Lifestyle Marketing Manager Roy Stigall III has announced that an NCAA Football Challenge Tour event will be coming to several area campuses starting today.

To quote: I am thrilled to announce that we have teamed up with PlayStation to bring you the EA SPORTS NCAA Football Challenge Tour presented by Best Buy.

This nation-wide competition will give ultimate gamers like you the opportunity to win a trip to the Rose Bowl and go head-to-head for a chance to score a $10k grand prize and take home your very own custom PS3!

So how does it work? Each Friday starting October 9th (that's today!) at UCLA, gamers of all types, from hard-core to casual, will be invited to come down and test their NCAA Football 10 skills to compete for cool prizes and perhaps more importantly, bragging rights for their favorite schools. If your field skills outmatch and outscore the competition then you'll receive a custom PSP and trip to the Rose Bowl on January 1, 2010 to compete in the finals!

243w ago - Update: According to German site EuroGamer.de, the MAG public BETA will begin on September 17, 2009 as confirmed by Andy Beaudoin, chief designer at Zipper Interactive.

Today Sony's Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell has shared a MAG GamesCom Virtual Booth Tour video on the PlayStation Blog.

To quote: On day one of Gamescom Cologne, even the jet lag of a 40-hour day couldn't keep me from stumbling my way over to MAG in the PlayStation booth.

There, I found Seth Luisi, Director of Development at SCEA, who walked us through a 128-player "Acquisition" mode Valor map that's playable on the show floor.

EVO 2009: You Just Don't Know - Fighting Game Tournament

248w ago - Sony's PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Jared Rea has shared a glimpse of EVO 2009, along with a video of Daigo defeating Justin Wong in Street Fighter IV.

To quote: EVO is the world's largest and longest-running fighting game tournament, and this year it was bigger than ever.

Largely thanks to the incredible success of Street Fighter IV, EVO's overall attendance positively exploded compared to recent years, with over 1,000 die-hard players entering for it alone.

With thousands in attendance, six games are simply not enough and as the fighting-game mecca of the world, there is a ton to experience every year.





Capcom set up shop and showed off the latest builds of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for PlayStation Network, as well as Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Codes for the PSP. Likewise, Namco was on-hand running a side-tournament for the extremely impressive looking Tekken 6 for PLAYSTATION 3, which has to be seen to be believed (seriously, screenshots do not do this baby justice).

Not to be outdone was Aksys who brought their increasingly popular 2D fighter BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, which found its way onto the main stage as well. These titles...
