New Tales of Vesperia for PS3 Goes to the Beach with Swimsuits

100°
263w ago - Yesterday two new playable characters were revealed for the PlayStation 3 port of Tales of Vesperia dubbed Tales of Graces.

Today additional new features appear to be coming to the PlayStation 3 version of Tales of Vesperia, as the latest issue of V-Jump scan (below) reveals new costumes for the main cast.

To quote: Apparently, the game is going to the beach because the main characters are getting in their swimsuits.

The new scans reveal characters like Yuri in an open shirt with shorts and Judith in a two piece. Delightful.

New Tales of Graces Scan Reveals Two New PS3 Characters

50°
263w ago - A new Tales of Graces scan is available, which appears to reveal two new playable characters, as well as some new information about the PlayStation 3 port of Tales of Vesperia.

This game is the first mothership (Namco Bandai's term for non-spin-off games in the Tales of series) game for the Wii.

The previous Tales of game for the Wii, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, was classified as a spin-off sequel.

To quote: The black-haired male's name is Hubert Oswell (voiced by Takahiro Mizushima) and is Asbel's younger brother (by one year), and the red-haired female's name is Shelia Barnes/Burns (voiced by Shiho Kawaragi).

It appears the male favors close-hand combat, while the female uses spells to attack. The scan also shows a new swimsuit costume for Flynn, entitled Short-Sleeved Prince, which has Mieu from Tales of the Abyss on the logo.

Valve is Working to Build a Talented PS3 Development Team

300°
264w ago - Valve isn't quite as against the idea of developing games for the PS3 as previously thought.

Speaking to Valve's Doug Lombardi at the Left 4 Dead 2 event in London today, JoyStiq (linked above) discovered that the company is still "up on the idea" of developing for the PS3 - it's just waiting until it has hired some decent PS3 coders.

To quote: "If you look at The Orange Box - PC: 96 on Metacritic, 360: 96 on Metacritic, PS3 like... 84 or something. That's not even close to where we are right now with the 360 and PC and the reason is people."

Lombardi went on to say that "we have to get people under our roof who are dedicated, talented PS3 guys and then all bets are off. We can take the same sort of strides and get the quality out of the box and offer the same support post-launch on that platform, as well." Sounds like Valve-developed PS3 games are more a case of "when" than "if," nowadays.

When asked whether Valve is actively seeking to hire PS3 developers, he noted that "Valve is always looking to hire people. So yeah, definitely."

New Tales of Vesperia PS3 Screens Available with Extra Flynn

50°
269w ago - Namco Bandai have issued brand new screenshots of the upcoming PlayStation 3 version of Tales of Vesperia.

The original Xbox 360 game allowed you to fight with a comrade of Yuri Lowell's, the main character, only once.

That was Flynn Schifo. However, the PlayStation 3 version is putting much more emphasis on keeping Flynn in your party it seems, as we see shots of him walking and battling with the party.

Check out some of the screenshots below, with the rest linked above in their art gallery. Enjoy!
