Video: Doom PSP Homebrew Game Running on PS Vita via HBL

1300°
135w ago - It wasn't long ago that we saw a Sega emulator running on PlayStation Vita, and now homebrew developer wololo has shared a video of the Doom PSP homebrew game running on PS Vita though the Half Byte Loader ([Register or Login to view links]).

To quote: A year and a half ago when I got Doom for PSP to run on the PSP Go, website hackaday noticed it and said “[being able to run Doom is] a prerequisite for any cracked device”. Some people try to run Linux on their hardware at all cost, I prefer Doom.

Today I was able to tweak HBL a bit on the PS Vita to get Doom to run on it. Will I get hackaday’s attention this time too? That’s, hands down, the best fps available on the vita so far, check the video below!

We are aware that this hack will be easily patched by Sony, but we still plan to publicly release it some time soon after the US/EU release of the Vita (we still have to port HBL to the EU/US versions of the game but that shouldn’t have any difficulty).

I also know that some devs are already working on solutions to make it “easier” for people who would want to stay on a low firmware....

Video: Need for Speed The Run: Supercars, Michael Bay Trailer

400°
142w ago - EA Community Manager Coulter Mulligan has posted up a video today revealing the Need for Speed The Run: PS3 Supercars alongside a Michael Bay trailer below.

To quote: We're days away from the release of Need for Speed The Run, the illicit cross-country race from San Francisco to New York in the fastest cars on the planet.

Jack (played by Hollywood actor Sean Faris) finds himself racing against 200 other racers in pursuit of a $25 million cash prize.

In true Michael Bay form, it's jam-packed with action and explosions. What's really neat is that Bay actually took time to get his hands on the game, and talk with our creative team for inspiration.

Speaking of Hollywood, if PlayStation fans haven't seen the new trailer directed by Michael Bay, definitely take a look right now:

If you've already pre-ordered the Limited Edition of the game, then you're entitled to some really slick cars, including the [Register or Login to view links].

1050°
144w ago - Today PS3 News member ChronosAragami has suggested a quick and effective way to launch Rune Factory Ocean on PS3 3.55 Custom Firmware.

Those interested can simply do the following:

1. Grab JAP version dump of this game, we will use it as a base.
2. Replace "RFF2.bin" and "RFF2.dat" with US eqivalents
3. Replace japanese "Sounds" and Movies with US ones.
4. Enjoy game!

To quote: "Sorry my bad English, I am Brazilian hehe, I'll cut to the chase, I discovered that if you swap the files RFF2.bin RFF2.dat, from the American version to the Japanese version, the game going to be with the texts in English and Japanese audio.

That's it, just wanted to share with others who enjoy this game. Thank you for your attention.

Ops, the JAP audio its not working, if you want to hear the villagers voice, put all the Sounds from USA version in the JAP version."

PS: I do not have this game, whole instructions and all credits goes to ChronosAragami. Ask him for questions
