Cubixx Free This Week on PlayStation Mobile for Week Three

50°
77w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has announced today that Cubixx is free this week on PlayStation Mobile for week three of their ongoing promotional campaign.

Below are the details, to quote: Two weeks ago, we started a PlayStation Mobile promotion that offered six free games over six weeks. The first two games were Samurai Beatdown and Beats Slider.

This week, we're pleased to announce that the free PlayStation Mobile game is Cubixx. In this fun an addictive game, you have to use your laser to cut away the surfaces of a mysterious cube and free the energy within. Cutting longer lines and crossing multiple cube surfaces gives you bigger combos, but at far greater risk.

This is a great old-school, highscore-chasing game with 20 fun filled levels. Ross Brierley, a game tester with Laughing Jackal, had this to say about Cubixx when it launched in October 2012 on [Register or Login to view links].

Cubixx was our first self-published title and also spawned a sequel in the form of our first ever full PS3 game, the amazing Cubixx HD. Upon release, this thrilling action puzzler was awarded 9/10 by The Sixth Axis, who called it: "massively addictive."

Sony Confirms Beats Slider is Free This Week on PlayStation Mobile

78w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has confirmed that Beats Slider is free this week on PlayStation Mobile.

Below are the details, as follows: Last week saw the launch of a PlayStation Mobile promotion that will offer six free games over six weeks, starting with Samurai Beatdown.

This week, the free PlayStation Mobile game is Beats Slider. Master the puzzle gameplay by sliding different note blocks into sequences to create catchy electro tunes and compete for the best times online!

Recently, we invited FuturLab's Managing Director James Marsden to explain the ins and outs of the game on PlayStation.Blog. Here's what separates Beats Slider from its contemporaries:

Each block of the sliding puzzle represents MIDI data, which is basically musical notation that computers can read. MIDI data can be used to play back any instrument, synthesizer, drum loop or whatever you throw at it, just by changing the instruments or samples that are triggered by it.

So what we've done is allow the player to push a drum loop MIDI pattern into a synthesizer slot, or a melody pattern into a bass line track, and every combination you could think...

78w ago - Managing Director and Co-Founder at Green Hill Maarten de Koning has confirmed today alongside a video that Gun Commando will be blasting onto PlayStation Mobile this Wednesday.

Below are the details, to quote: Do you like old school first person shooters? Do you own a PlayStation Vita or a certified PlayStation Mobile device?

If the answer to both questions is yes, then we at Green Hill have some great news for you! You play Jack Bennett, a weapon-loving alien-hating gun-for-hire; who is called in to save the world from invading aliens. Alongside the story - sublimely visualized by comic book legend [Register or Login to view links] - and the great retro look, it features a unique weaponry upgrade system that rewards players' skill and accuracy, allowing you to upgrade to the big guns faster if you've got what it takes.

And you'll be needing the big...

Video: Haunt the House: Terrortown Possesses PlayStation Mobile

80w ago - SFB Games Founder Tom Vian posted up a video showcasing Haunt the House: Terrortown which will be possessing PlayStation Mobile users today!

To quote: Hey everyone! [Register or Login to view links] is comprised of two brothers, Adam and Tom Vian from London.

We've been making games for many years (mostly for browsers, under the name "The Super Flash Bros." and this is our first opportunity to make a game that can be enjoyed on a real handheld console.

When we heard about PlayStation Mobile and thought about PS Vita as a platform, there was only one game we had in mind. The colourful graphics and simple controls of Haunt the House work perfectly in this context - it's a really natural fit.

The original Haunt the House was a browser game we made for Halloween back in 2010, and since then we've come a long way as designers.

The basic idea of Haunt the House: you float around as a ghost, possessing any objects you see and use them to perform spooky haunting actions to any humans who are nearby! The aim of the game is to scare every single human away from the town, but this game also has an extra objective.

The first thing we wanted to design was the town itself,...
