158w ago - Following PS3 FTP Server and PS3 FTP Server v1.2, today stoneMcClane has introduced the third PS3 FTP homebrew application called simply PS3-FTP for PlayStation 3 JailBreak users, this one being made with the PSL1GHT open-source SDK.
To quote: The first legal PS3 ftp server has arrived, courtesy of stoneMcClane. The previous ftp servers for PS3 used the Sony SDK. However, PS3FTP is coded with the PSL1GHT Open SDK, making it completely legal.
Please note during our testing of PS3FTP, it crashed several times. It appears this new project still has some bugs to work out.
Finally, from the ReadMe file:
A minimal PlayStation3 FTP server written with the help of PSL1GHT (http://www.psl1ght.com/)
1) To start the FTP server, just run the PS3-FTP.self via ps3load/wiiload or install the PS3-FTP.pkg and run it directly from the...
To quote: Essentially, this app keeps a database of all games you have downloaded/installed and even lets you print a neat, organized list of them.
Extract to root of your computer's hard drive (e.g.. C:Ps3_inven)
Version 1.2 brings the following:
• Correction of several bugs and optimized code.
• The folder is added to net when you get off the covers they will go here.
• Now you can download the cover of the game automatically from the Internet.
• Slight change of image.
To quote: As most of you already know, there is a 4GB file limitation imposed by FAT32 hard drives. When using an external hard drive and trying to copy certain games with large files, problems may occur.
PS3Splitter has come to the rescue, allowing users to break up large 4GB+ files into smaller files. This app will automatically scan for large files that require splitting. Making things easy for the user to get their games working on external hard drives.
The method currently supports Open Manager and Gaia Manager. Also make sure to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile before using PS3Splitter.
• Automatic scan of selected directory including sub directories for files larger than FAT32...
159w ago - Today NZHawk has shared on his blog (linked above) what he calls a little find, specifically how to place PS3 apps into different PlayStation 3 XMB categories.
To quote: "Well I was talking to DarkHacker about param.sfo files and that. He asked me to try changing the CATAGORY string to 'HM' and see what it did.
It made the package install under the PlayStation Network catagory on the XMB. DarkHacker and I then worked out the rest of the catagories that its possible to install and run hombrew applications to the XMB, and found them all except Users, Settings and Friends (which all seem to be filled with the XML files in the VSH flash folder).
String / Category HM / Playstation Network
CB / Network
HG / Game
AV / Video
AM / Music
AP / Photo
AT / TV
I thought this was quite interesting, and would be great if we could add a Hombrew catagory to the xmb and make all hombrew apps install under it to make some hombrew standard, much like the wii has. (Also has anyone though about making a database of hombrew Title IDs to keep track?)
Oh, and its possible to change this location after install via application settings."
Thanks to PSGroove for the news tip and to Jes03 for posting this a...
